Our Story
Visiting Hours and History of our Vineyard: We welcome visitors to our vineyard. Since we do not have an official tasting room, we appreciate a quick phone call before you come so we can welcome you to our winery! About Mount Tehama Winery: The site of Mount Tehama Winery began in 1982 with 20 acres of brush and countless rocks and boulders. A Christmas tree plantation was originally established which required no pesticide application. This started the foundation for a healthy soil, and the ORGANIC PHILOSOPHY of our winery. By encouraging healthy soil and environment, we can grow healthy grapes organically, which improves the end product in the bottle. In September 2014, Manton Valley was approved as an AVA by the TTB. Vineyard and Environment: Lassen Volcanic National park is a popular destination for tourists, and volcanic activity is still visible in the area. Mt Lassen itself last erupted - in spectactular fashion - on 22 May 1915. The area where Mt Lassen stands today was once dominated by mighty Mt Tehama. Our 2,660 ft. elevation gives us a colder climate, which discourages many pests and other types of problems, but is desirable in producing a balanced wine.
