Just a family that loves our birds
The Siglers started this crazy adventure with the idea of getting just a few ducks because the house we bought had a small pond. Within a month we had 14 ducks (6 we hatched from eggs from a friend). Then we bought 5 white turkeys because they were cheap. Then we bought eggs online (8 ducks, 33 chukar and 13 pheasant). Then we added 4 more ducks. Then we went to a small animal swap meet and bought 4 ducks, 3 quail and two heritage breed turkeys. Then we added 4 more ducks. And just a few months after getting started we now have a small scale bird farm. We hope to sell eggs soon. And we will harvest some birds this fall for meat for our family. And by the spring of 2019 we hope to be selling eggs (for both hatching and eating) locally. By the fall of 2019 we hope to be able to harvest enough birds so we will only need to buy beef and pork to supplement the poultry we are able to harvest ourselves.
