Whats for dinner at your house tonight?

We had venison Reuben’s with fermented roasted garlic, jalapeno, dill sauerkraut on rye sourdough. I served it with air fried chips, Mississippi mud dip, and refrigerator cucamelon pickles. 10/10

There is definitely beauty in this dangerous weather. I hope everyone is safe and warm today.

With the bad weather we are stuck in the house and what better way to pass the time than prepping food for the week for my family.

I made….
*Sourdough mini waffles w pancake syrup
*Beef butter burgers (with ghee) for the freezer
*Cut up cheese to snack on with homemade peppered turkey and chomps meat sticks
*veggies and homemade ranch for dip (cottage cheese base for protein)
*a giant salad
*deviled eggs (new recipe and they are amazing! I’ll post it in the comments.)
*hard boiled eggs
*mayak eggs
*grilled balsamic chicken tenders
*brioche sourdough Pullman bread

Tomorrow I’ll package the beef burgers and then make chicken burgers for the freezer.

Whats for dinner at your house?

I recently made this miso bean and onion recipe that I can not stop thinking about. I will definitely be making it again.

I did add a jar of our canned carrots and some frozen garlic and shallot confit. I also substituted the onions for leek. The flavor was phenomenal and the ingredients were minimal and mostly pantry staples.

Peppered turkey and goat cheese grilled cheese on blueberry lemon sourdough.

This sandwich was a labor of love for sure. I made a lemon blueberry sourdough loaf, peppered turkey sandwich meat, and sautéed sliced asparagus in shallot garlic oil. I then assembled the sandwiches with smoked Gouda, havarti, garlic and chive goat cheese, peppered turkey, asparagus, caramelized onion jam, and smoked sea salt. On the outside I used mayo and “grilled” it until browned and melty. It was so good.

The girls are loving this weather. I’m going to definitely need to start incorporating more eggs into our diet again. Wh...

Finally!!! I’ve been watching everyone in warmer areas starting seeds and showing off their seedlings and I’ve been itching for my turn.

Today I planted Lisianthus, petunias, onions, celery, and rosemary. I have 3 towers I’m planning to plant with flowers and I’m so excited to see how they turn out.

I bought new plug trays and I’m worried I made a mistake because they fit a lot of seeds, 288 each. 😉🤣 I guess I will have to find more room to put trays when I start moving them up into bigger pots.

There really is something to be thankful for in the quiet mornings. The dough waiting to be shaped, chicks in the brooder chirping away, sipping hot coffee while watching the sun rise on a new day, these are the things I once only dreamed of. I truly am blessed to live this life.

Dinner tonight was bourbon chicken bowls. I used canned bourbon chicken, leftover rice, canned carrots, canned pickled radishes, sumac onions, and a creamy gochujang sauce on top. Dinner came together in 10 minutes and was delicious! I love nights like this.

What is for dinner at your house tonight?

We are having biscuits and gravy topped with dippy eggs.

These are sourdough biscuits that I bulk made and froze. This morning I took out some and put them on a pan to thaw and then baked like normal. They are absolutely delicious and have so many flaky layers.

I will used our home grown homemade breakfast sausage that I canned and a home made country gravy mix.

Simple and convenient but delicious.

Country Gravy Mix
4 1/2 flour (I use GF 1-1)
1/2 cup corn starch
1 1/2 cups milk powder
1/4 cup onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
4 TBS black pepper
1 TSP salt
Use 1/4 mix to 1 cup of milk or water
I also like to add 1 TBS chicken bouillon powder when making the gravy.
