The garlic is really garlicking right now! I’m dreaming of a garlicky marinara made from sun ripened tomatoes and sweet basil picked fresh from my garden….oh summer…I simultaneously dread your arrival and can’t wait either!

Fall planting is almost finished🌱

Garlic, bok choy, Napa cabbage, broccoli and regular cabbage is now in the dirt. Next up, some dino kale and lettuce.

I’m using new Lowcat tunnels to cover the rows this year, they were super easy to install, definitely an upgrade from the old wire hoops and rocks I used to use as weights for the row cover.

Planting this time of year is such a different experience than spring planting with its stressful rush to beat the looming heat. Now it’s a rush to beat the looming cold and wet, but I can plant out seedlings midday with zero wilting.

It’s quite lovely indeed 💚💛🧡

Another successful Manton Apple Festival has come and gone! ❤️

Our farm has been sharing a booth with our friends at Redwood Seeds for many years, it’s the perfect collaboration between seeds and produce and our customers love to see some of the seed varieties on the racks displayed in fruit form for sale on the table too!

Thanks to all who came out this last weekend to see us and say hi!

One of the projects I’m implementing this year on the farm is native bird habitats, along with a native plant pollinator hedgerow. I want to encourage as many natives as I can to promote resilience and biodiversity on the farm. 🐝

In fact, I am contemplating a farm name change to reflect my new farm vision and location and I’m thinking about the name: Harvest Harmony Farm, because I want to farm here in harmony with the native plant and animal species. What do you think?

I installed three of these beautiful bluebird houses on the farm to encourage our bug-eating bluebird friends to call it home. The houses were hand-built by my dear stepdad, Craig, he is a talented woodworker. Thank you Craig! 💙

Next up is owl boxes!!

So I have to admit, I’m a terrible social media marketer! I barely post on here anymore, but I have a very valid excuse (I think)! My phone camera has been on the fritz all year (it doesn’t focus well anymore) and I absolutely despise purchasing new expensive phones so here I am, not posting much because I can’t take good photos.

Buuuuut, I took a few today of what I’ve been up to, bad camera or not. It’s starting to feel like fall here, my summer crops are winding down, so I’ve been cutting firewood, pulling zucchini plants, and digging POTATOES!!!

I hope you all are enjoying fall as much as I am, and maaaaybe I’ll get a new phone this winter and get back in the swing of farm updates!

My dahlias did great this year, every year the clumps of tubers get a little bigger and the clumps of flowers a little more lush. They’re so beautiful, they bring me a lot of joy. 💞🌸🌼
