I went to visit a lavender farm today to learn about the many different types of lavender and all of their various uses and traits, I learned a lot, it was really amazing.🌱

The farmer, Amy, was so passionate and knowledgeable about lavender, she really knows her stuff! I felt so much gratitude to be there and learn about the different varieties and see how they were each growing in our climate and our soil here, they are all so different!

I’m interested in planting lavender on my farm as well so it was really wonderful to see the hundreds of varieties she had growing and learn about them all. Thank you Amy! 💜💜💜

Big news, our farm just got its official status as Certified Organic! It’s been a lot of work (mostly paperwork) but it feels good to have the official recognition that we produce food in the healthiest way possible, for us, for our customers, and for the planet! 🌱🦋💚

This time of year is tricky for us in the Northern California foothills. Our farm sits at 2,500 feet in elevation so we can’t typically plant out frost sensitive crops until after Mother’s Day. So what winds up happening every year is we are out planting our starts well into the hot first few weeks of summer, and boy it’s quite challenging!! Not only are our planting times limited to morning and evening, but we also run the risk of longer shock periods with our seedlings due to the extreme conditions. This week we are experiencing some pretty intense heat, even for this time of year, so I’m paying close attention to all the plants throughout the day to make sure they look happy. 🌱🌱

This is a picture of some luffa gourds I just planted last night. This morning I tucked them in under a nice thick layer of straw mulch to keep their roots cooler today in this heat 🥵

The garlic is really garlicking right now! I’m dreaming of a garlicky marinara made from sun ripened tomatoes and sweet basil picked fresh from my garden….oh summer…I simultaneously dread your arrival and can’t wait either!
