Don't miss the season finale at Hudson farmers market tomorrow morning! Come celebrate the conclusion of the season, say goodbye to your farmers market friends, and indulge one last time in farm fresh vegetables and your other favorite market treats.

Be sure to dress warmly, as we hear that the weather is taking a dip overnight, ushering in the chilly weather of autumn.

Don't forget to take the opportunity to stock up on robust fresh garlic or your favorite Maple Dell jam. Garlic will be your friend in this coming weather, warming you up inside and helping you to ward off illness, and it will keep for several months when stored in a cool, dry place with plenty of air circulation.

Our produce for this final market: lettuce, kale, chard, tatsoi, bok choy, Chinese cabbage, beets, radishes, green onions, beans, celery, slicing and cherry tomatoes, jalapenos, bell peppers, summer squashes, fresh ginger, and garlic.

Stop by and celebrate with us on the Hudson green from 9:00am-12:30pm!

Our produce selections for tomorrow's market: lettuce, kale, chard, chinese cabbage, bok choy, cherry and slicing tomatoes, carrots, radishes, summer squashes, garlic, fingerling potatoes (only a few left!) ginger, celery, bell and Italian peppers, and jalapenos.

Join us on the Hudson green from 9am-12:30pm tomorrow!

Limited time 50% off elderberry plants! You can grow holistic medicine in your own backyard. Elderberry products such as syrup have been used for centuries to fight influenza and colds. In a randomized scientific study, participants taking elderberry syrup experienced symptom relief from influenza four days earlier than the control group. You can grow this powerful fruit bursting with antioxidants in your own backyard provided that you have a spot with at least 5 hours of sun. Starting early in the summer, you will be able to harvest the leaves for tea, then flowers for tea or delicious syrups or cordials. Towards the end of the summer, the tiny berries will begin to turn dark purple and be ready to harvest and freeze or dehydrate for use in teas or syrup as an immune booster over the winter months.

This native perennial plant can grow from 5 ft tall to upwards of 12 ft depending on the variety. It likes a fertile soil with plentiful moisture yet sufficient drainage. It can tolerate a range of pH levels, but performs best in a slightly acid soil with a pH between 5.5 and 6.5. These 1 year old plants can produce berries as early as next summer or fall, although picking off the flowers during the first year can help the plant redirect its energy into growing a robust root system.

Message us today to reserve your American elderberry plants for pick-up at the Hudson farmers market (Saturday 9am-12:30pm) or by appointment at our farm in Mantua. At half price, they are $9 each. We have Bob Gordon, Ranch, and Adams varieties available.

Featuring new farm to table flavors this week: ginger, celery, and purple bok choy. Use this rich, full-bodied, farm fresh ginger to make a mouthwatering Chinese dish. Try pairing it with our purple or green bok choy, ramen noodles, and diced chicken or pork in a kung pao sauce for an unforgettable meal. Or microplane a small amount into a homemade balsamic vinaigrette for a pop of zing on your salad. This celery is lovely just for munching on, but is also a savory addition to your chicken soup or pot pie.

Some of our summer vegetables are finally starting to slow down, but we still had a good harvest of slicing tomatoes this week. It won't be long now before the tomato season is over, so be sure to enjoy a last BLT, burger, or tomato pie with a depth of flavor that only freshly picked tomatoes can give.

Our produce selections for tomorrow's market: lettuce, kale, chard, chinese cabbage, bok choy, cherry and slicing tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, beets, radishes, summer squashes, garlic, fingerling potatoes, ginger, celery, bell peppers, and jalapenos. We only have a few weeks left, so be sure to join us at Hudson farmers market from 9am-12:30pm tomorrow and savor all the farm fresh goodness that you can while the season lasts!

They say to eat the rainbow. Swiss chard is practically a rainbow by itself. It is a powerhouse of nutrients, chock full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Have you ever heard of the ANDI score? It stands for the "aggregate nutrient density index" and is a system designed by Dr. Joel Fuhrman that scores foods on a scale of 1-1,000 based on their nutrient density. The score of 1 is the lowest possible score, and 1,000 the highest. Swiss Chard has a score of 1,000. It ranks with kale, collard greens, mustard greens, and watercress as having the highest level of nutrients per calorie.

Since we're celebrating the phenomenal goodness of greens, now is the perfect time to announce that we're bringing back our much requested bok choy and Chinese cabbage for the fall season. Quantities will be limited this weekend, but we will have these delicious greens for the remainder of the season at Hudson farmers market. They are allstars in any kind of Asian dish, especially pho soup or stir-fry. Heading into the fall season is the perfect time for cozy soups to warm you up inside on these cool evenings, as well as the perk of boosting your immune system with all this green goodness before the cold and flu season strikes.

Our produce selections for this weekend's market: lettuce, kale, chard, bok choy, Chinese cabbage, summer squashes, cucumbers, sweet peppers, jalapenos, salsa verde kits, large and small tomatoes, radishes, beans, fingerling potatoes, and garlic. Stop by the Hudson Farmers Market from 9:00am-12:30pm tomorrow and fuel your body with the nutrients it needs!

Stop by the Hudson farmers market early tomorrow for our limited selection of our brand new salsa verde kits. To make your salsa verde, clean and husk the tomatillos, then broil or grill them and the jalapenos until charred and softened, about 4-5 minutes on each side. While they cool, peel your onion and cut it in half, and peel two garlic cloves. Seed the cooled jalapeno, then add all the prepped vegetables to a blender, along with 2-4 T. of fresh cilantro, and the juice of a lime. Pulse to your desired consistency, and add salt and pepper to taste. Refridgerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Enjoy!

In addition to our verde kits, we will have our usual abundance of farm fresh goodies, as well as our first limited quantity sweet pepper harvest. Our produce line up: lettuce, chard, kale, carrots, radish, cucumbers, summer squashes, beans, fingerling potatoes, large and small tomatoes, onions, jalapenoes, green bell and red italian peppers, and garlic.

Featured item: our Megatron Jalapeno! Their mega size makes prep so much easier. These delightful jalapenos are also a little bit devilish. While four out of five of these are surprisingly mild, that fifth one is a scorcher. If you are looking for the heat, check for the stretches marks shown in the second picture.

Here on the farm, our favorite ways to enjoy these are finely minced on nachos (don't forget the minced fresh garlic; this is an absolutely killer nacho combo), in cowboy candy, and for stuffed poppers.

It's pepper week at Hudson Farmers Market ! We are bummed that our sweet peppers are still slow to start this season, due to damage from a late frost. While we'll send you to our friends across the green-- Quiroz Family Farm Salem, Ohio -- to sample their incredible pepper selections, we have many delightful vegetables to accompany your peppers, such as the onions, lettuce, and tomatoes that you need for your top notch fajitas. Or try our summer squashes, onions, and cherry tomatoes on grilled kebabs with peppers.

Our produce for tomorrow: lettuce, chard, kale, cucumbers, carrots, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, summer squashes, jalapenos, beets, radishes, onions, and garlic. We also have a new jelly flavor: elderberry! Be sure to give this special seasonal flavor a try.

The Hudson Farmers Market page has been down temporarily, so please help your community out by sharing the news about pepper day at the market with as many local friends as you can!

Today is the final day of this season that you will find Maple Dell's farm fresh produce at the Mantua Christ Lutheran Church. Stop by between the hours of 4-7pm and indulge in a bounty of produce picked fresh this morning. We'll have lettuce, swiss chard, kale, beans, cucumbers, slicing and cherry tomatoes, and a lovely assortment of summer squashes, including some especially tender cousa squash, a staple in Lebanese cuisine.

You can continue to find our produce at the Hudson farmers market for the remainder of the season; until October 7th. We will also continue to harvest on Tuesdays for our most loyal customers, so if you are interested in picking up fresh produce at our farm on Tuesday afternoons, please send us a message and we can let you in on all the details.

While you are stopping by for your produce, you can also grab a jar of our delicious jam, a bag of Good Earth Roaster's invigorating coffee, or one of our lovely native plants.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by at our booth over the summer. It has been such a pleasure to meet so many of our community members and serve you with our produce grown free from agricultural poisons.

We were awoken in the wee hours by a tornado warning and the sound of a roaring wind that induced a pell-mell dash for the basement. A severe thunderstorm that showed rotation on the radar passed through at 60 mph, leaving us without power and snapping four of the trees on the farm in half.

An attempt to start up the generator this morning proved futile, necessitating a trip to the hardware store for a rental so that we could wash our produce for market tomorrow.

Despite the inauspicious start, we managed to pull off our harvest day, and are pleased to bring you our usual selection of vegetables, including a bountiful harvest of cherry tomatoes. Here in the photos are Nova--the yellow grape tomato that stole the limelight last week at the tasting; indigo cherry, and Lucky Tiger. We love each of these tomatoes, and yet each has their own uniquely delicious flavor profile. This past week I tried roasting the lucky tiger with a mixture of farm fresh vegetables. Roasting concentrated the natural sweetness into an intense burst of flavor that was addictively tasty.

Our produce selection for this week's market: lettuce, chard, kale, tomatoes, beans, fingerling potatoes, summer squashes, beets, onions, jalapenos, and garlic.
