What a crazy GO time it has been with the springs weather so much rain and now so much dry. The maze is all planted, I wish we could say it went off without any hiccups, but that was not the case… from monitor electrical issues, to shoes on the planter falling off no matter how tight the bolts were🫣, and a deer shed to the front tire on a Sunday afternoon at 4:00👀🤦‍♀️! Back at it with a stolen tire from a like tractor, until I just couldn’t see the marker rows in the dark. Behind the scenes were just a crazy with chores getting done and a multitude of little things. Back at it Monday with the tire to the tire shop early for repair. Chores done and back in the planter trying to figure out the on and off electrical! By 2:30 it was time to get the hay rolled up and the end was not close. Thankfully Jodie was available to run the baler so dad and her son Philip headed to the field to take care of that. I sent Tim to the parking lot field to mow down that field to get it down. About 5:00 Jeff Harner buzzed in with the fertilizer for the field along 82 that he took the hay off of and will convert to corn for crop rotation. This was just about the time I finished planting and I was able to catch 4 tractors in a video. It was a long day and much accomplished! I think I count 7 busy tractors overall on the day between ours and Jeff’s! Whew!

I remember many years ago this happened to us. We had a brand new seeding of hay just off of the road. The chase team come right in and right across the seeding leaving some ruts along the way. My dad was hot to say the least, the driver said, “I just thought it was grass”, like it was not a big deal.

What a fantastic evening with Dr Temple Grandin and Portage County Farm Bureau. Dr Grandin is very supportive of the Visual thinking person! We heard about her life and how she has been able to help the cattle industry. She is an accomplished author of many books, articles and papers. She told us she reads New York Times and the Wall Street Journal every morning. She supports FFA and 4H programs, and believes all 11 year olds should have some sort of job, not just the ones at home, dog walking or mowing the neighbors yard, and making sure they know how to talk to adults. She told us that she has helped 27 students through an animal science program clear through the masters program, financially, because it’s important. She will be 79 in August and the people that do the leg work getting her to engagements can’t slow her down! She’s witty, educated beyond smart and overcame the stigma of autism. She said the HBO movie was an accurate representation of her story, it’s one not to be missed. It was a wonderfully successful evening! Thanks to all that came out!

Super Bowl Sunday isn’t just about football. It’s about agriculture!

From the beef on the grill to the cheese on the nachos, the wheat in the pizza crust, and even the avocados in the guacamole, the ag + western industry shows up on every game-day table.

Did you know:
- Millions of pounds of beef are consumed on Super Bowl weekend
- Americans eat over a billion chicken wings for the big game
- Tens of millions of pounds of avocados are turned into guac

Behind every bite is a producer, a rancher, a truck driver, a marketer, and countless industry professionals who help feed this country.❤️

So while you’re watching the game today, remember, agriculture is part of the starting lineup.
