It’s always a good feeling to get all of the cows to summer grass. The mature cows were the last to get moved. All of the purebred heifers and cows were AI’d for two cycles and we put in two rounds of embryos into recipient cows. The mature cows stayed close to home with Mill Brae Steele Nikkel 8006 for another cycle before they all joined the recipient cows this morning. Everything will come back home in July to pull bulls, pregnancy check and give all the calves their pre-weaning shots.

Teat and udder structure are traits we believe make the foundation for a functional and profitable female.

We were sitting around the office table last weekend making pre-breeding season decisions, which included making the list of who goes to town after calves are weaned. We discussed every female on the place and a large part of our conversation revolved around the teat and udder scores each one of them received when they calved.

Collecting this data and using it as a decision- making tool helps us to provide our customers with genetics they can trust.
