Grandma Emma’s Bake Shop and The Arc of Essex County Launch Second Session of Job Readiness Program
Community partnership continues to provide hands-on workforce development and inclusive opportunities
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Grandma Emma’s Bake Shop is proud to announce the launch of the second session of its Job Readiness Program in partnership with The Arc of Essex County, continuing a shared commitment to workforce development, inclusion, and community impact.
Following the success of the first cohort, the program returns to provide participants with real-world, hands-on experience inside the daily operations of Grandma Emma’s Bake Shop. Participants will receive training in areas including baking, packaging, customer service, kitchen operations, sanitation practices, and workplace readiness skills.
“This program is about more than job training—it’s about opportunity, confidence, community, and creating pathways,” said Eric Dawson, Founder of Grandma Emma’s Bake Shop. “Watching participants grow, learn new skills, and become part of the Grandma Emma’s family has been one of the most rewarding experiences for our team.”
Grandma Emma’s Bake Shop, known for its small-batch, from-scratch desserts and community-centered mission, views the initiative as an extension of its belief that businesses should play an active role in strengthening their communities.
The second session builds upon the momentum of the inaugural program, which provided participants with practical experience in a live bakery environment while fostering teamwork, responsibility, and personal growth.
“Our continued support for The Arc of Essex County reflects what community collaboration can look like when businesses and organizations come together with purpose,” Dawson added.
Grandma Emma’s Bake Shop looks forward to welcoming the new cohort and continuing to create meaningful opportunities through food, mentorship, and community engagement.
