The first natural service, CAPTAIN sired, heifer calf from Camille 1863 made an appearance last evening in this sweltering heat. She had hid herself pretty good under a multiflora rose bush, could only see the tip of her tail. Can'r blame her, probably several degrees cooler under there. Fished her out and relocated to the shady woodlot with the rest of the newborns. Getting some great herdbuilders in this first round cohort with 2:1 heifers over bulls.

Calving season is starting with a bang as the 12 AI (Artificially Inseminated) females started dropping calves on Friday afternoon. The 8 commercial females were all AI'd to SAS COPPERHEAD G354 (Red Simmental). The four Reg RA were bred to BFCK Cherokee CNYN 4912 and WWRA RED BOCEPHUS 5014. Beautiful weather for new baby redheads!

Weaning time for WWRA RED VULCAN 2026 (Reg: 5206443)! His 12yr old Dam WWRA MS VICTORIA 5021 outdid herself again. This will be one of only two REDMAN J01 sons we will have in our 2027 bull offering. Can't wait to run this chunk across the scale this week for his official weaning weight!!

Third crop haymaking completed last night with a record harvest of 63 bales from 35acres. The excessive humidity, heat and daily threat of pop-up thunderstorms made it a bit nerve wracking but thankfully able to avoid rain and get it dried down to 15% moisture. Redhead and Paleface girls gonna appreciate this green candy this winter.
