Last night was the final step to the Pima County Fair for our girls, the Carcass contest! It’s something we look forward every year to see the final product of all the hard work we as a family have put in. This year there were 14 carcasses in the contest! Our biggest turn out yet! The kids were able to learn about how the meat is graded, measuring back fat thickness, ribeye size and what goes In to classifying it like the KPH (Kidney, pelvic, heart fat) and they all got to walk in the cooler and see this carcasses. What you feed cattle and how you feed cattle makes a huge difference in the end product. Armando has had a wonderful feeding program over the years and has inherited knowledge from some of the best in the business, his mother and grandpa. We are so proud that Mackenzie won Grand Champion Carcass 2026!! Feeding these show calves is also how we feed our calves for our business. A lot of thought and time goes in to the feeding program to be able to continue to have consistent results. Thank you u of A meat lab for allowing our children to be able to have this experience. And Congratulations Mackenzie!
