Meet your farmers! Robby and Sawyer Oliver, husband and wife team. Robby started Oliver's Produce when he was just 9 years old. A table outside his grandma's house selling sweet corn and pumpkins. I, Sawyer, started helping about 14 years ago and started full time in 2017 after getting married. In the meantime two kids have come along. Our 6 year old is old enough now to understand how lucky she is to have her own farm. She loves this unique, special life. Robby is typically out doing field work or in the barn taking care of animals. I bounce around all over the place. In the spring I am starting the flowers and plants in the greenhouse then when we open for the season I am busy managing and operating the store as well as helping anywhere I'm needed in the field. We both work every single day. Once the season starts there are no days off. That's what it takes for us to run the farm successfully. If we want to get a little quality time as a family off the farm it means working twice as hard for the hours we are there that day. That's just a small part of what goes into running this business. No matter how hard we work, things inevitably go wrong. We make mistakes, mother nature has other plans, or we just plain tried and failed. It happens every season at least once but usually a lot more than that. That's farming for you. We have realized no matter how things go wrong, the only decision we can't make is to give up. We discuss, we plan, and most importantly we pivot. We find a way to overcome and at the very least take diligent notes to prevent it from happening again. Our successes you see today are thanks to mistakes we have made in the past. The Oliver's Produce you visit now was made by hard work and resilience. This season, opening a new store, has been a huge learning curve for us. We love to grow and improve using everything we have learned. Believe it or not, we discuss the 2027 season every day! We appreciate all of our customers no matter if they started shopping with us way back when or just recently discovered us. Stay tuned because this season is only half way over! Lots more to come.
