Bittersweet day. We are giving most of our goats to a family farm in Fort Davis. Allan has had two eye operations and his sight is not good enough to handle the goats safely. They are going to a beautiful ranch and will be out in grassy pastures daily feeding a hardworking family with their milk. We will keep the seniors, the ones who no longer can be milked and a few good milkers for ourselves. We probably will make some small batches of cheese for ourselves and the farmers market. The good news is I will be a almost fulltime studio artist soon.

This looks like a great idea particularly in West Texas or drought areas.

The idea is for the water to immediately reach the root system instead of soaking through the surface. It prevents almost all evaporation and thus decreases the amount of water needed to adequately hydrate the plant. No matter how big or small the root system, this WILL work and work well. It will also not impede the natural root spread enough to destabilize the plant.

Marfa Maid Dairy is looking for help on or farm starting as soon as possible. We need a person (or couple) who want to work with our animals (goats, llamas, etc.) to help feed, water, maintain their stables and learn to milk the goats. Other tasks include cleaning of stalls. fixing fences and maintenance of the grounds. The person should have a love of animals. This work requires some strength and not being afraid of getting dirty.

This position will be 3 hours a day for 5 days a week. This is a work exchange for a small but comfortable trailer with all utilities included. We will also pay a $200 a month food stipend. The worker may have an outside job but will be required to be available for our regular schedule.
