Is anyone else writing about pizza while eating pizza at midnight? 🍕 No? Just me? 😅
Fun history fact: Back in the 1700s and 1800s in Naples, pizza was just cheap street food (reminds me of the NY dollar slices). Then Queen Margherita visited in 1889, tried a pie with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil, loved it, and suddenly it became a thing. A UNESCO thing these days. 👑
Well, it actually became a thing because Neapolitan-style pizza is a science. It’s cooked at very high temps (900f) for just ~90 seconds. Special flour must be used to withstand the high heat, and the dough must have only 4 ingredients (water, salt, flour, yeast) and no additives. The pizza is known for its minimalist style with basic toppings, a little char on the puffy crust rim and a signature gooey center. True to tradition, these pies are 12 inches and served whole🤌
The good news is you don’t have to be a queen or go to Naples... just Margaretville, NY to get a royal pie.
