Why We Raise Our Own Meat at Conner’s Heritage Farm
Raising our own meat is not always the easiest choice, but it is an important one for our family.
We want to know where our food comes from, how the animals were cared for, what they were fed and how they lived. Our animals are raised with fresh air, sunshine, room to move and daily attention from our family. We believe that animals raised for food still deserve kindness, proper care and respect throughout their lives.
This way of living also teaches our children valuable lessons about responsibility, hard work, gratitude and the true cost of putting food on the table. Meat does not simply appear in a package at the grocery store. It represents time, care, resources and a life that should never be taken for granted.
Processing an animal we have raised can be emotional, but that emotion reminds us to be grateful, waste as little as possible and honor the animal by using the food it provides thoughtfully.
For us, raising our own meat is about feeding our family wholesome food, becoming more self-sufficient and reconnecting with the land and the traditions that sustained families for generations.
From our farm to our table, with care and gratitude.
