🍅🌶️ What Does “Days to Maturity” Really Mean? 🌶️🍅
One of the most common questions we hear is:
“When will the tomatoes and peppers be ready?”
The answer starts with something called Days to Maturity (DTM).
Many of our tomatoes are listed at 70-80 days to maturity, while peppers often range from 70-90+ days.
But here’s the important part:
That clock doesn’t start when the seed is planted.
It starts when the transplant goes into the field or high tunnel.
Even then, weather has the final say. Cool nights, cloudy days, and slow spring growth can all add time before the first ripe harvest.
The plants may already look large and healthy, but they still need time to flower, set fruit, and ripen.
The good news? The season moves quickly from here.
We’re expecting our first tomatoes in July and peppers as August arrives.
The wait is almost over.
