Music Fam! It’s almost Wednesday! You know what that means. Open Mic time. May 27. One of the highlights of the week for The Hunt House staff is seeing all the insanely talented local artists spread their messages that they choose to spread through making music. Seeing community build in the old rooms of The Hunt House is something that we do not take for granted. Ya’ll are the lifeblood of what we do. Without the community, musicians, and fans of music- there is no Hunt House. There are no small local venues that stay open without YOU. The Atlanta music community is beyond vibrant, compassionate and loving. When one of our people are in need, the community always gets together to support them. It is beautiful to see and to be a part of.
With that said, one of our people in the music family needs our help. If you know the amazing Donna Hopkins, you most likely know her wonderful daughter, India Fair. India is currently fighting for her life and needs our support. If you know either Donna or India, you know they have been a part of the pulse of the Atlanta Blues and Roots scene for the better part of 30 years. When someone in the community has been in need, India and her mother have always been one of the first to offer their time, energy, money, and musical ability to make a positive difference. This Wednesday, we will be raising funds to support India and her family through living and medical expenses.
When darkness falls on the music community, we always pull together. This Wednesday, Nathan Nelson will be opening the show with an extended set as our featured artist. Nate is a part of the foundation of the Atlanta Blues scene and is someone you don’t want to miss. To make the night even more special, Ralph Roddenbery is going to be joining Preston on the MC and hosting duties as the special guest co-host. Chef Marc will be doing what he always does and will be bringing a stellar menu of food and drinks. We already have an awesome list of musicians signed up.
