Spring Creek Peafowl

Spring Creek Peafowl Spring Creek Peafowl is located close to Marion, KS which is 75 miles northeast of Wichita. We are de Bill and Candy retired to the family farm in Marion Ks.

After 20+ years of owning and operating an indoor shooting range in Wichita, Ks. They built a new home and barn and quickly started adding a few animals to the 100+ beehives that they had already been tending, They both had a variety of animals growing up and through the years including horses, cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and pheasants. Bill has had pheasants, quail, chickens, and turke

ys but the one bird that Bill always had wanted was the peafowl. The farm was inundated with grasshoppers and ticks so the logical addition of guineas was the first priority along with a few chickens. Next, they started acquiring a few peafowls learning how to keep them alive, and later breeding them. That is when the pen building began and like all hobbies, one thing led to another and now after 12 years, we have 30 breeding pens and seven grow-out pens, and large flight pens. Like most peafowl fanciers we started out with the common and most beloved India Blues and have expanded to over a dozen of the more exotic mutation varieties and patterns plus a few special projects yet to be released. We ship to the lower 48 states plus the US territories. In 2022 we started shipping young chicks along with the breeder birds we had already been shipping.

This week we hatched our very first Ultramarine peachicks… and honestly, it still doesn’t feel real. 💙🩵🦚🩵💙

For people outside the peafowl world, it’s hard to explain just how big of a deal Ultramarines are. They are one of the most sought-after and captivating peafowl colors out there. Truly a dream bird for so many people.

A couple of years ago, before we even knew Spring Creek Peafowl, I saw photos of the Ultramarines shortly after they had imported them from the Netherlands… and I was absolutely obsessed! Instantly! They shot straight to the top of my “one day” dream bird list.

Fast forward to now… and somehow we’re over here hatching our own. And honestly, that is because of Bill and Candy at Spring Creek Peafowl.

In an industry where people often guard information like state secrets, they did the complete opposite. They took us under their wing (yes… I had to 🤣) and openly shared their knowledge, experience, genetic insight, breeding advice, successes, failures, and probably answered 47,000 questions from us along the way.

Not because they had to.
Not because it benefited them.
But because they genuinely care about the birds, the future of the industry and the people in it.

And that is honestly way more rare than it should be.

They share the same values we have here at Roost & Run Ranch:
🦚 Put the birds AND customers first
🦚 Keep learning
🦚 Share knowledge
🦚 Improve the quality of the birds for the future

And somewhere along the way they also became two of our best friends… which may or may not have been the result of a mutual bird addiction and an enabling problem 😅

This hatch means a lot to us.

Not just because Ultramarines are incredible birds… but because it represents learning, trust, mentorship, patience, and people willing to help others succeed instead of gatekeeping information.

That matters.

So thank you, Bill and Candy. Truly.

And to our tiny new Ultramarine babies… welcome to the chaos 💙🦚

The hens are laying up a storm. If you messaged us that you wanted to be on the list for peafowl eggs well now is the time to get back with us and finalize the order! We will start shipping eggs as soon as they are paid for. Let us know how many you want and your shipping address so we can send you an invoice. As soon as it is paid we will get the eggs in the mail. We do only ship on Mondays and Tuesdays so that your eggs have a better chance of arriving on time. Thanks for you attention to this matter.
EDIT: Here is the thing, in an attempt to be fair, I have tried to follow the list from the top down. First on the list, first to get eggs. I send PM's, people say send an invoice, I send an invoice, then crickets. Then the eggs sit on the counter because of non-payment the eggs set on the counter and don't get shipped, leaving people that would have paid getting pushed back and having to wait longer. Not paying the invoices is not fair to the other people on the list and is a waste of my time and eggs that could have been shipped. I am now going to require pre-payment to get on the list. Those already on the list and ready for eggs, send me a PM and you will get an invoice the same day and eggs shipped the following Monday or Tuesday. First paid, first shipped. Shipped from Marion, Ks. Six eggs in a variety pack $125 postage included. Eggs are a mix of all sex-linked colors and leucistic white genes: White, Pied, Silver Pied, Dark Pied.

The girls are getting into the swing of things and the eggs are flowing. We are now contacting people on the list for payment and will begin shipping on Monday, 4-27. If you signed up for eggs, please watch for a notification for payment so you don't get skipped over. Your eggs will be held at your post office for you to pick up. The PO will call the number you provided. This assures less handling and less chance of being left in the hot sun at your doorstep, or worse. There will be a note included in the package on incubator settings, resting the eggs, and how to place them in the incubator for better results.
