Almost that time…. I grabbed a crunchy lil test snack from the hazelnut patch today.
For real I’m gonna get a good nut cracker before harvest 2026. If you inherited your great grandpa’s nut cracker deluxe from 1884 it’s time to break that out and try throwing some hazelnuts down the chute. How many pounds of pressure does it take to crack a hazelnut??! No one knows.

I find there are so many benefits to not mowing much.
Here’s one more to add to my growing list: I came across this gorgeous cocoon in some calf high grass last week. The internet told me it was destined to become a Baltimore checkerspot butterfly.
Fast forward a week or so… could you be the same soul (or whatever remains from that magical transformation)? You certainly are checkerspotted.

Third pic… a yellow warbler really loves to hang in one little set of apple trees. Can you spot the bird?

Y’all got me loving these early mornings at the Rochester Public Market, seeing familiar faces, meeting new people, and sharing the excitement around the Fresh Farmers Together collaborative project. We sold out quick this morning! We’re back July 4, 7am til we sell out!

My friend Gary told me to take a picture after I mow and show it off. Look folks I mowed the garden paths! More crops coming this week… Forecast looks like good tomato ripening weather 🤫 😎

What a way to spend summer solstice, running through the woods at letchworth with fellow lovers of trees and trails and seeing what our bodies can do with the help of some chips and pickles and high fives and woop woops.
“45ish” miles down. Very grateful to Trail Mix Fund for sponsoring my entry and trailsroc for a beautiful day and Shea Butter for lingering a long long time for me to finish shuffling around the forest to capture this joyful finish line photo.
