Some scary excitement by our house tonight. I was outside with my youngest and heard a zapping sound. Didn’t think much of it until my oldest came out and said the power was out, then a few seconds later said it smelled like something is burning. I looked up in the direction I had heard the sound and saw smoke. Ran to the road and saw the fire. Immediately grabbed my phone and called 911 as some people stopped by my driveway. They said the power line sparked and fell into the tall dry grass, sparking the fire. Feels like forever waiting for the fire department to show up, but they got there quickly and got it out within about 20 minutes. Then alliant had to come out as the pole had been on fire. We do not have power, so went out for supper.

About halfway through the day on Tuesday, the water was finally out, but has left a huge mess. We were able to borrow a trash pump to get the water from in front of the house and pump it back to the other side of the driveway. You can see in some of the pictures just how high the water was in the basement. Now the real work begins. Documenting loads of pictures for insurance and begin ripping the flooring out. We already have fans running to dry out the appliances. Hopefully they aren’t ruined.

Pictures from this morning. The water level has gone down. You can see the line on the garage door. The driveway was completely under water last night. Now we wait for levels to go down so we can begin ripping up flooring.

On a positive note, the ducks are living their best life.
