Just a heads up --- We do not get messages through Facebook and haven’t for many years, it tells me we have them but it has rarely allowed me to see them let alone answer them. If you have questions either call us (the preferred method) or email us (not as likely to get a quick response). We are farmers and often times do not have time to write because our hands are in the dirt, cleaning barns or any number of farm things that are not conducive to sitting down at the computer and writing right away. We do have an answering machine and when we come in from the fields and greenhouses, we check messages and return calls. So, leave a message with your tele number and area code.

Also I apologize for the lack of photos FB has banned my photos (an ongoing problem with this deplorable unsocial media site). I am tired of playing their games and will no longer attempt to post my pics and get their rejection.

Hello folks,

It’s spring and time for Carousel Watergardens Farm market days. Just a heads up we will start our spring market Saturday May 9, 2026 from 9am-12pm we will be in the parking lot of the Glenwood United Methodist Church at 2833 Valleyview Drive, Columbus, Ohio.

We will have our beautiful hanging baskets for Mother’s Day as well as our vegetable plants and some perennials. We will also have our pantry-fare of honey, and honey comb, jams & jellies, Pasta Sauces and BBQ sauces and soup mixes. We will be discontinuing our herb dips and rubs this year so stock up on what we have left.

Our spring and summer market schedule will be Saturday’s May through October from 9am-12pm at this location.

It has been a very slim winter, and we shut the greenhouses down for the winter therefore there will be no produce until possibly late May to mid-June at the latest. With no income coming in this winter, we have been working on a very slim budget so there will be very limited variety on product this year as we could only afford a limited amount of seed for this season.

The church we set up at has merged with a couple other churches and we just received word this week that we would be able to continue setting up there. Although they no longer will hold church services at this church, they will still do their community outreach and continue their pre-school at this location.

We look forward to seeing everyone again and hope we have great weather but the long-range calls for rain next Saturday let's hope this is one of those “weatherman is wrong predictions”. See you Saturday May 9th.

Leaf mulching is on hold due to weather conditions lately. We worked Wednesday through Monday blowing and mulching leaves and then picking up the piles and mulching the flower beds. By early evening the snow started, and we worked until after six when it began to snow pretty heavy. Now those piles are under six inches of snow waiting patiently for us to get to them.

We spent most of Tuesday shoveling out both driveways and the barnyard. That snow was so wet and heavy our muscles are quite vocal expressing their discontent. We finally had to get the tractor out to finish the drive by the house we just didn’t have enough umph to get the last 100 feet done by hand. Soon as the snow melts, we’ll have to shovel the stone back in the drive that the front-end loader moved along with the snow. It doesn’t matter how careful we are with the tractor we manage to move just as much stone as snow.

It’s been nine days since hubby’s accident and insurance still has not returned a call or an email. This is getting ridiculous. They told us they would get back with us on Monday after the holiday. They didn’t want to get us a rental vehicle until Monday after the holiday but here it is Thursday and still nothing. So much for paying such high premiums and get no service.

The dogs are getting cabin fever along with me. They want to go for their walks through the fields, but it is so slippery I am afraid of falling so I have been forgoing the walks. I put them in their runs to play for a half hour, but Remi isn’t happy about that. Bindy loves it, she can push her big red ball all around in the snow and is quite content, she wears herself out. Don’t even think of tossing her ball or playing with her, she has her own agenda. Rem just stands around and whines, he has no interest in playing with or without you, he is strictly a “let’s go for a walk” boy. Funny the contrast between them.

Our big Cypress trees have lost just about all their needles for the winter. They turned a vibrant red orange and covered the front field. I mulched them Monday, but they are under the snow. Can’t wait to get them picked up and mulch the north iris bed with them soon as the snow melts.

This Saturday December 6th is our farm market day. We will be in the parking lot of the Glenwood United Methodist Church at 2833 Valleyview Drive, Columbus, Ohio. Our hours are 10am-1pm. I’ll put another post on Friday.

It’s been an eventful few days and it didn’t include enjoying the holiday. Tuesday hubby was pulling into the driveway here when he was hit by a truck. It pushed the van into our front barn and did quite a number on the building and foundation of course the van didn’t fair well at all.

Hubby is pretty banged and bruised from the impact and the airbags. Four airbags nailed him pretty good. We still cannot find his glasses. We couldn’t figure why his shoulder hurt so bad but finally determined the air bag in the driver’s seat deployed and that is what put the big bump and bruises on his shoulder, arm and back. That airbag ripped the driver’s seat from top to bottom one big gaping hole in it. Hubby said it felt like going a round with Mike Tyson. The truck that hit him had a lot of front-end damage, but both occupants were ok.

The accident happened around 3:45pm but the scene was not finished until dark. Of course, all the first responders showed up, fire department, sheriff and two Ohio State Patrol cars. After about fifteen minutes all left except one patrolman and he was so nice he didn’t look a day over 13 years of age and I questioned him on that. He grinned and said he gets that a lot. He was such a gracious fella with quite the sense of humor which was wonderful. Then we had to work until midnight by flashlight moving the van to the barnyard and then framing in the barn wall and putting plywood up to cover the hole in the wall. Of course, hubby and I were soaked, and cold as it was raining pretty hard and the winds were picking up.

Wednesday, we had plenty of damage around the farm from the high winds. We seemed to go from one area of the farm to mitigate or band-aid fix damage when something else would let go. It was frigidly cold, sleet, rain, snow and of course we were in it all day. It tore the plastic on two greenhouses, and we had to patch them up until we can get new plastic to skin them. We had some tree damage too which we still need to get cleaned up. Of course, none of the neighbors have cleaned up their leaves and guess where their leaves are now. Our place was mulched and clean and now we have more work cleaning up their leaves on top of everything else to do here on the farm.

Since we mulched leaves Monday our plan was to pick up the piles of mulched leaves and put them on the multiple flower beds Tuesday and then Wednesday the plan was to make some dishes to take for Thanksgiving with our friends and their family in Columbus. All those plans were cancelled. No vehicle to drive and insurance will not handle anything until Monday and will not process getting a rental vehicle until Monday either.

Thursday, we spent fixing as many of the band-aid fixes from the high winds as we could. Again, a very cold and frigid day. Then hubby worked in the tomato house and prepared it for mulching and tilling.

Friday, we spent the morning taking pictures of the van for insurance they wanted us to use some app for that, but it will not download to our phone, so I spent the morning doing the pictures. Then we cleaned the van out of all our belongings and boxed them up. This afternoon we mulched the tomato house with granulated fertilizer and mulched up leaves and grass clippings then rototilled them under to amend the soil going into winter. We are glad to have that finished.

Tomorrow we will be bringing in all our potted trees and putting them in the tomato house for the winter. Maybe just maybe we’ll be able to get back to picking up all the mulched leaf piles in the field and get back to mulching the flowerbeds. I’ve been nursing a hip that keeps going out and a bum foot from stepping on something and hubby is stiff and sore but hopefully we will get the flower beds done tomorrow. Sunday is supposed to be the day of rest but we know between the farm and Mother Nature they have other ideas in mind for us… Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
