We’re so excited Midnight is gaining weight!! Every 2 days we weigh him as momma and the herd wait patiently outside the door. Today was good news!! He’s up to 13lbs!!

Yesterday was a true test of faith
My son woke me up on Sunday morning “Journey had her baby!!”
I ran out to see Brian standing in the pasture with his arms up “Maybe it’s not Journeys baby, she won’t even look at him.”
I was too excited to comprehend what was really going on. It was raining and I needed to get that baby dry and warm.

After working for awhile together we noticed Journey was sitting out in the pasture with all the female alpacas facing her. She was chewing the cud without a care in the world.
The cria was strong and walking around moaning for his momma. He was 2 weeks premature and really small, but definitely strong.
After an intense day of trying to bottle feed the cria (alpaca baby), forcing Journey in the pen with him, watching her kick and reject him again and again…. I felt my spirit start to break.
“Promise me you won’t let him die.” My son cried.
All we could do was pray, so as a family we prayed and asked God to help us and to promise us not to let him die.

I felt defeated as I finished bottled feeding him at 9:30pm. He was looking more lethargic and not eating much.
I went to bed as Brian agreed to give him his bottle at midnight.
“He’s nursing! Journeys letting him nurse!” Brian’s words rang like an alarm at midnight as he showed me the stall video.
He was nursing!!! God had changed Journeys heart and gave us:

So excited to come back to our garden harvest

A lot of people ask “Do you ever get a chance to get away from the farmette?”
The answer is “YES!”
We have an amazing helpers who allow us to get away stress free!
This year we were able to take a trip across the Atlantic for my birthday and it didn’t disappoint.
Although our little one cried herself to sleep a few nights because she missed her doggies; we all had an amazing time!
But we’re so glad to be home!!
