Well, hey there! 👋🏼🤠
When we first started sharing little pieces of life here at Rocking M Ranch, most of our followers were close friends and family. Somewhere along the way, our little circle grew, and now there are just over 700 of you following along! 🥹❤️
So we figured it was about time to introduce (or reintroduce) ourselves!
We’re the Marsh family — Tyler, Lauren, Charlie, and Andie — and we’re the faces behind all the animals, adventures, and occasional chaos here at Rocking M Ranch in Maroa, Illinois!
Our “farming” story actually started back in 2019 with a homemade chicken coop, a few chicks from Rural King, and a little dream of growing more of our own food. Before long, we were selling fresh eggs, growing a garden full of vegetables, and slowly building our own little backyard farm.
In early 2021, we bought an old farmhouse on a small piece of property just outside of Maroa. It wasn’t exactly horse-ready (or much of anything-ready, for that matter 😂), but we saw what it could be.
Fast forward five years, and that old farmhouse has been completely renovated, we’ve added fencing, pastures, an arena, goat pens, shelters, stalls, chicken coops, runs, and more. We’ve even been fortunate enough to purchase additional acreage surrounding us, slowly growing our own little slice of homegrown heaven. ❤️
And somewhere in the middle of all that building, growing, and dreaming, we’ve been raising two little girls who are growing up right alongside this ranch.
These days, you’ll find us juggling full-time jobs, raising our girls, tending to horses, Boer goats, chickens, and dogs, putting up hay, growing what we can, and providing farm-fresh food to our community. It’s a whole lot of work, a little bit of chaos, and exactly the kind of life we hoped to build.
Looking back, it’s pretty incredible to see how much has changed in just five years. But the funny thing is, as far as we’ve come, we still feel like we’re just getting started.
We’ve got big dreams, plenty of projects, and some exciting things on the horizon that we can’t wait to share with you all! 👀
Whether you’ve been here since the Rural King chicken days or just recently stumbled across our little corner of the internet, we’re so glad you’re here. Thank you for supporting our family, our ranch, and this crazy little dream of ours.
