Annie’s delivery. She was in stage 1 of labor for 6.5 hours to include tail up, like straight up and out, general look of discomfort, walking from one end of the pasture to the other, stopping and rocking back and forth and stretching forward on her legs. I wasn’t concerned yet because I kept telling myself to follow her queues. She was chewing her cud and didn’t show signs of distress. Finally at 6 pm I noticed presentation of her water bag and then she laid down to push shown in the video. She did not struggle, this was her 3rd calf, no signs of meconium stain. Meconium stain is when the calf will be born with a yellow stain on their hair which means they passed their first manure still in utero shows sign of stress which can be an emergent situation. Sorry the video stops short as I was moving forward to stop Merlin my bull from being nosey and I cleared the nose and mouth. You can see the head is first and the feet are facing hooves down which are signs of correct presentation for birth. I will have to try to get a full birth video next time as I realized after the fact that my phone ended up in my pocket with the video still going 🤣. Ashlynn’s Highlands and Miniatures
