See y'all July 18th!

The event will start with a guided tour of our regenerative organic farm and grain processing plant to see firsthand how we prioritize healthy soil and healthy food at the Grain Place.

It’s time for our second post! Today, we will be featuring Grain Place Foods, Inc, located near Marquette, Nebraska.

It all started in 1953 on the Vetter family farm, when Don Vetter began transitioning to organic farming practices. He was a pioneer, one of the first in the region to pursue organic. In 1978, the farm was certified organic, and one year later, the Vetter family farm became The Grain Place Inc.

Today, Grain Place Foods is still run by the Vetter family and also employs two dozen highly-trained individuals. The company focuses on value-added grain processing and sustainable practices. The company is now working towards achieving Regenerative Organic Certified standards, emphasizing Soil Health, Social Fairness, and Animal Welfare, as they continue to serve as pioneers in sustainable agriculture.

Thank you to Grain Place Foods and the Vetter family for your commitment to organic agriculture and high-quality food! We appreciate your support of OCIA Nebraska!

Join us virtually next Monday to hear Bob Quinn share his wisdom about growing food as medicine for people and the planet 🌎 RSVP: bit.ly/healing-earth

In 1986, he planted his first organic crop on his family farm, and by 1989, he had converted the entire farm to organic. Today, he cultivates 3,400 acres alongside 600 acres of pasture—all organic. He’s widely known for reviving an ancient grain that he registered as Kamut® Khorasan wheat, never to be modified or hybridized and always organically grown. Thanks to Bob, this novelty wheat is now grown on organic farms throughout the United States and Canada with high demand because of its rich, nutty flavor, combined with high protein content and exceptional nutritional qualities.

Bob served on the first National Organic Standards Board, which led to the creation of the USDA’s National Organic Program, and has been recognized with the Montana Organic Association Lifetime of Service Award, The Organic Trade Association Organic Leadership Award, and Rodale Institute’s Organic Pioneer Award. In 2023, Bob furthered his commitment to sustainability by donating 700 acres of his farm to establish the Quinn Institute—a regenerative organic research, education, and health institute dedicated to “healing the earth by growing food as medicine.”

This webinar is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). TOPP is a program of the USDA Organic Transition Initiative and is administered by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP).
