This morning Lord we lift our farmers, ranchers and Ag families up to you. As they prepare to head out the door into these frigid temperatures to tend to their herds you have entrusted them with, Father we ask that you place your hand of blessing over them. That their trucks and tractors will start on the first turn. That their waterers will be working and that the ice on their troughs would break on the first strike. Father may their wind breaks stand strong and their fences be upright. Give them a supernatural warmth as they battle the elements to do their work. Father we know they are tired but overflow their cup today with energy. Bless their ranches, their homes and their marriages. May everywhere they turn today they see you. We ask these things in Jesus name, Amen

Texas farmers and ranchers began prepping days ago for this arctic blast. And they’ll continue caring for their livestock regardless of the temperature.

The bitter cold, wind, ice and possible snow won’t stop them from providing care for their livestock.

Today is National Farmer's Day, and no one works harder than America's cattle farmers and ranchers!

10/13/2022

. Today. And every day. Working early mornings and late nights to grow our food, fiber and fuel.

Each day, farmers and ranchers care for the land, animals, natural resources and their families. They have a desire to succeed. The drive to innovate. And a passion for growing things.

They have faith when times are tough. They face adversity head on. Determined and ever-evolving to satisfy the needs of consumers. And optimistic—despite the unpredictable nature of farming.

With firework season upon us, we wanted to offer a few helpful tips. Horses are easily frightened by loud bangs and bright flashes of light. Fireworks should not be set off near livestock or horses in fields, stables, or barns. If you are planning on setting off fireworks, please inform neighboring horse owners so they can prepare. When a horse is frightened they do not consider obstacles in their way. They may bolt, jump or run away. Add bright tape to your fencing or dangle old CD’s to mark the fence line. If your horse is turned out, scatter hay around the pasture to keep them occupied. If your horse is in a barn, keeping hay out for them or a treat ball should help occupy them. To reduce the effect of bright lights from the fireworks, leave the lights on in your barn and close the doors. Music is also a good option to reduce the sound of fireworks inside the barn. You should start this a few days before, if possible. If you have major concerns for your horses well-being, speak to your vet about medication options. Check on your horses throughout the evening and make sure they are settled well. Remember safety is key, don’t put yourself in danger and have your vet’s emergency number on hand. Remain calm and stay positive- horses sense your unease and fear.

Monday morning packers are convinced the solution to low cattle prices is more carcass hooks. Reality, however, suggests proposed new packing plants are out of step with cattle inventories and available labor.
