A few new changes to the farm this year including the return of ducks and chickens to the farm. We’d also like to introduce our five new goats: Steel Magnolia, Princess Buttercup, Jake (from State Farm), Wesley, and Tanngrisnir.

Finished up the duck house tonight. Moving the ducks in tomorrow so we can get some baby chickens.

Our native tree hive looks like it may swarm again this year. Last year we didn’t quite have the skills to properly handle them and the flew off after escaping the hive box. This year we are deploying this swarm box in hopes that we’ll be able to lure them in.

Went and checked on the new hive today to see how it was getting along. Queen almost released. Super proud of these boys...

Went and checked on the new hive today to see how it was getting along. Queen almost released. Super proud of these boys for not freaking out when I told them we were going to work them without smoke. They jumped right in and got the work done.

Did a lot of work around the farm today. Mowing, brush cleanup, outdoor furniture pulled out and hosed down, and a new place for our beehive. Our last hive failed in September so we are looking forward to getting a new pack of bees soon.
