Hey Yall! I’m having to make a really tough decision this year. Its been an incredible journey the last 5 years of owning and breeding Kunekunes. I cant begin to tell you the amount of joy and happiness these animals have brought into my life. Ive even made lasting friendships, and community. Unfortunately the steep Western Mountains of NC are not easy to farm, and as a Single person farmer with limited resources and limited access to land or equipment its become more of a burden for me. Im consistently dealing with an instability of health due to a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I recently put my back out for week just while sitting in a chair!!! Ugh. 😑 I have learned so many things during this journey- both about myself and my own courageous heart as well as about the land, the animals and the nature of farming. With all of this in my mind the past few months- and honestly ever step of the way as I have struggled to keep this dream alive- I am now ready to move forward and pursue other dreams. I may yet get back into it in the future but for right now, the best thing for me and my animals to sell out. And it breaks my heart. ❤️
I’m going to be selling my sounder, my original herd stock as well as a few good gilts Ive kept as breeders. I currently have 11 pigs total, with atleast 3 of them being retained for meat for my family. So that means 8 are up for discussion. Only good homes will be considered as these are my babies that Ive personally hand raised. I would prefer to sell as a whole rather than break them up.
Im going to include a google doc link so you can get all the info. I believe that only one of the 8 is not currently an AKKPS registered pig, but she is notified.
