Even with fewer daily farm chores in the winter, there is plenty to do in the winter. The big project for this month is redoing the trailer floor, strengthening the sides, and fixing some broken welds. We use the trailer all the time spring to fall, moving cattle between leased properties, bringing chickens out to pasture and to processing, taking cattle and pigs to the butcher, etc. We bought it used and have put it through a lot over the past four years. We hope these repairs will get us another good 5 years out of it!

We had a great time last Saturday as guest vendors at the Warrenton Farmer's Market ()!

We are regulars there as customers and are very grateful for what they are doing to support local agriculture. So it was fun to be on the other side, sharing our chicken, pork, and beef with customers.

The farm store is gloriously stocked with wonderful super-local, fresh food. Our co-op members have stocked their tables with delicious produce and we have the FIRST FRESH CHICKEN OF THE YEAR!!! Processed this morning and as delicious as it gets.

Cattle have an incredible intuition for finding the forage that they need. Often when our herd has tree or bush leaves available they will happily eat them. Here is one of our guys going to town on what, to our eyes, might be weedy brush.

The pig pasture is starting to fill in nicely With another 6 or 7 weeks before the piglets arrive and start grazing, this area should be thick with delicious forage for them!

Spring is so close! 🌱 Our cattle are down to the last few bales of hay that we cut last June. In about 10 days they’ll be back to intensive rotational grazing!

Spring really is coming! Come Thursday the brooder will be filled with this year’s first batch of chicks! It’s almost ready for their arrival!

Brooders should be places you'd be happy to have your morning coffee in, so we clean ours out after every batch of chicks!🐥☕️☀️
