At Phase 2/LKE we believe impeccable turn out is so important for a variety of reasons-
1.) A horse’s outside appearance is a clear reflection of how they feel on the inside. We like to see our horses strong, healthy body condition, and coats glowing. We then know they are getting all the care internally and externally to be able to do the job asked well.
2.) Through the process of tedious turn out one lays their hands on essentially every hair on the body. While doing this you are able to feel any aches, pains, heat, and inflammation that may be present. It’s a good checks and balances to make sure nothing is left unturned before training, hunting, or competing.
3.) We like to look good! It show respect towards the hunt and/or judges at the shows/events.
Our model boy here captured perfectly by is Rae Stone’s McCoy! He has been such a pleasure to help produce. He is an incredibly gorgeous and talented young up and comer who tends to catch everyone’s eye! 😍
✨Barbara Cross Graham- May 27th, 1937- March 4th, 2022. ✨
My great aunt Barbara is finally at peace and reunited with her favorite person in the world, my Granny Gail (Barb’s sister). When I think back on Barbara’s life it was a life very well lived. Barbara was successful on so many fronts- an incredible horsewoman, an amazing racehorse trainer, a loyal sister, aunt, friend, and an overall kind hearted person to everyone who crossed her path. There is something to be said for ‘in your blood’- and Barbara was just that for me. I learned so much from spending time with her. She did everything right for all the right reasons. Barb was motivated by her genuine love of horses and helping all people that crossed her path. I couldn’t count the times I’ve heard ‘Oh your Aunt Barbara gave me a leg up, or your aunt Barbara taught me this, your Aunt Barbara help me in my darkest times’! I feel lucky to have learned so much from such an incredible woman with such devotion to her horses, her dogs, and her family.

1.) Groom/Grounds Manager- this position includes tasks such as bringing in and turning out horses, cleaning stalls, changing blankets, dragging paddocks and rings, fixing fences, and keeping the barn/operation in tidy working manner. Competitive pay.
2.) Part time help in the more detail oriented behind the scenes tasks such as tack cleaning, organizing, laundry, etc. competitive pay and flexible hours.

Phase II South does Aiken! Rather rainy on our first day hunting yet still 65 degrees-we took the compromise! John Dowdy and Sonny Brown were not deterred!

'Bumble' is a 15'3 hand warmblood gelding with the saintly status in just about every regard. Bumble has been one of our staple event/show jump horses for years. He is the best lesson horse that has ever existed. He has so much to offer in terms of teaching a big spectrum of students to ride- from learning to posting trot to learning how to jump a course. This guy is the master teacher of all. He leaves all his students with a big smile and a countless amount of confidence. He is a lovely mover, a confident, brave, and reliable jumper, and just about as broke as they come.

Max was purchased by Mark and Melissa Wi******er. Max has been a staple in our barn for the last 6 years and we couldn't imagine not having this fantastic big guy around. Max is the epitome of a family horse. He is safe, sure footed, kind, willing, athletic, and loves his job as a foxhunter at Orange County. He is teaching Mark the ins and outs of foxhunting while giving Melissa confidence that she's still got it and can still blast around the first field like she did for years growing up!
Mark and Melissa's smiles in these photos on Max are what make it all go round! Pretty hard not to smile this big when on a legend of a horse like Max!

Oliver
Oliver was purchased by John Dowdy in October as a first field Orange County Hunt Horse from Sisi Gallagher with the help of Denya Dee Leake. Oliver has turned out to be one of the most suitable matches yet. John has just moved back to the states from England. He was in need of a turn key horse to kick on with immediately- and Oliver has done just that! He is as good as they get and we couldn't be happier to have him in our program. Oliver is as good looking as he is talented and good brained. He even this week gave John's daughter Sophie a fantastic day of first field hunting on Thanksgiving Day. We are lucky to have Oliver and are looking forward to many more hunt seasons with him!

Caroline Brown and Sydney close out our 2021 with WINNING the Adequan US Eventing Youth Team Challenge at their first FEI 1* at Tryon!
To say I’m proud is an absolute understatement. Only one thing compares to doing it yourself and that is watching and developing a young rider to do it too! And that she and Syd did! Caroline put in 3 solid phases to bring home the blue with the Area II team!
Caroline deserves to be rewarded for all her hard work, dedication, and perseverance. You’ve come so far, my girl! I can’t wait to see how far you go! 💙 Plumes was the Spotlight boy WINNING his third event in a row at the Modified level 💙 Plumes has just recently become super confident in his own skin. He trusts himself so as a result he is absolutely dominating everything that is asked of him! A good lesson for all us people to take note of- we would all be better off being confident in our own skin! Plumes led from start to finish on his dressage score of a 29!
💙 Laurie Peterson’s horse Walter also WON his division from start to finish! Walter put on his dancing shoes to score a 26 in the dressage! He jumped 2 beautiful clear SJ and XC rounds to finish on his super dressage score! 💙
❤️ Caroline Brown and Sydney stalked me down in the Modified finishing right behind me in 2nd to Plumes! It’s always a proud feeling when your students are putting the pressure on you for a 1st and 2nd finish! ❤️
🤍Isabella Gomez and Fernhill Opulence put in 3 solid phases to finish 4th in a huge division! They are continuing to establish a great partnership!🤍
💗 Abigail Akre’s Rosie (Ricochete) was an absolute star at her first event back in 3.5 years! Scoring a 27 in the dressage and jumping out of her skin in the SJ and XC phases! She was 2nd to Walter in the dressage. A bit of an exuberant jump into a tight combination cost us a rail. However, Rosie was a machine XC! She absolutely loves the job. It’s fun to ride a mare with so much talent who loves her job SO much! 💗

Caroline is definitely the strongest girl I know in just about every regard. There is not one mountain or challenge that will stand in the way of where Caroline wants to go. Caroline faces everything head on with resilience. The challenges and circumstances Caroline has overcome are immeasurable. And in true Caroline fashion she used those road blocks as fuel to her fire- to only make her work harder, make her stronger, and more determined to become what she wants to be.
