Winner winner chicken dinner! A neighbor stopped in today after seeing our sign and gathered some essentials for her garden and pulled that lucky ticket for a handmade Gary’s Woodworks custom lined box! 🌳🪚

I absolutely adore talking with customers and neighbors and sharing the bounty we have. Farming is a labor of love that we are so privileged to engage in. 🚜✨

There’s still more to be won so make sure you swing on by to visit chicks and lambs, buy some pork and eggs, and stock up on garden essentials.

Built for the Smallholding: Animals That Fed a Thousand Years of History 🇬🇧🌾

Long before modern industrial agriculture changed the food system, there was the British smallholding. These were small, self-sufficient plots of land where a family's survival depended entirely on the resilience, utility, and quality of their livestock.

The animals we raise here at Parkfield Farm honor the original Scottish emigrees who farmed this land. These breeds did not evolve in a laboratory or a factory setting. They evolved hand-in-hand with human families over centuries, adapting to turn open pastures, orchard windfalls, and rough forage into premium sustenance.

Our fields and coops are alive with a literal tapestry of the British Isles:

🐷 Gloucestershire Old Spots : The legendary "orchard pig," famous for its calm demeanor and unmatched, deeply marbled pork.

🐑 Black Welsh Mountain Sheep & Dexter Cattle : Thrifty, hardy grazers that excel on open pasture.

🐓 Our Heritage Poultry Collection :

: The Dorking : One of the oldest recorded breeds in history, prized since Roman times for its unique five toes and legendary status as the ultimate table fowl.

: The Scots Dumpy : A wonderfully distinct, short-legged historic treasure bred to withstand the rugged conditions of old Scottish smallholds.

: The Sussex & Cream Legbar : Traditional powerhouses of the British countryside, providing exceptional dual-purpose utility and a beautiful rainbow of eggs (including the Legbar's famous pastel blues).

🦆 Welsh Harlequin Ducks : Highly active, stunningly beautiful foragers that keep our land pest-free while outperforming themselves with rich, creamy eggs.

When you choose heritage meat and eggs, you aren’t just buying dinner. You are actively preserving a living timeline of agricultural history that was nearly lost to the modern world.

⏰ We are wrapping up Weekend two of our Annual Plant Sale and are open until 6:30 PM tonight (Sunday, May 17)! Come grab your garden starts, fresh heritage poultry eggs, local butter, and our national-first USDA-inspected premium pastured GOS pork.

Missed us this weekend? We’ll be open with the exact same hours (9:00 AM – 6:30 PM) all grand finale weekend long, including Memorial Day (May 23-25)!

📍 Located northeast of Madison, just off Highway 151.

History in the Making: Meet the Nation’s First Labeled Gloucestershire Old Spots Pork 🇺🇸🐷

When we started Parkfield Farm, we committed to doing things the right way—for the land, for our community, and most importantly, for our animals.

Located just northeast of Madison right off of Highway 151 in Dane County, we are incredibly proud to share that we are the inaugural producer of officially labeled Gloucestershire Old Spots Pork in the entire country! As proud members of GOSA (Gloucestershire Old Spots of America) and the Livestock Conservancy, we are dedicated to saving this incredible heritage breed.

What makes our premium pork so different?
🌳 True Pasture Living: Our heritage piggos are raised happily on open pasture, foraging under mature oak and maple trees, and fed a 100% organic diet.
❤️ Zero-Stress, Zero-Trailering: We believe every animal deserves a peaceful life from start to finish. Our pigs never face the stress of being trailered off-farm for their "one bad day"—the USDA-inspected processor comes straight to us.

We are officially halfway through our 2nd Annual Plant Sale and the farm shop is fully loaded! Come out to stock up on our premium pork, grab your veggie and herb garden starts, and pick up fresh heritage duck and chicken eggs. We also have local butter and cold-pressed canola oil made within 5 miles of our fields!

⏰ Come See Us This Weekend:
• Today (Saturday): Open until 6:30 PM
• Tomorrow (Sunday): 9:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Next Weekend + Memorial Day (May 23-25): 9:00 AM – 6:30 PM

Calling all Madison-area food enthusiasts—come taste what ethical, heritage farming tastes like! 🧺✨

Honoring the Animal, Healing the Land: Our New Farm-Crafted Essentials 🐖🌿

At our farm, "heritage" isn't just about the breeds we raise; it’s about the way we use what they provide. We believe in a no-waste philosophy that honors the Gloucestershire Old Spots pigs and the fields we tend.

🧼 Gloucestershire Old Spot Solid Lard Dish Soap:
This isn't your grocery store soap. Lard soap is a millenniums-old secret—it’s incredibly tough on grease but surprisingly gentle on your hands. It’s long-lasting, plastic-free, and brings a bit of 19th century utility to your kitchen sink.

✨ Scalp & Strand Soothing Serum:
Born from local, cold-pressed canola oil and infused with farm-grown botanicals. Canola oil is naturally rich in Vitamin E and Omega-3s, making it a powerhouse for soothing dry scalps and adding a natural shine to your hair without the chemicals.

Both will be at the farm during our next plant sale weekend (May 16-17) and beyond!
