After shearing, every piece of fleece is sorted by grade, and each grade has a different destination.
🥇 Prime/Firsts (back and sides): the finest fleece. Becomes yarn, hats, scarves, socks, throws, and pillows.
🥈 Seconds (chest, neck, belly): slightly coarser. Goes into dryer balls, felting, and rugs.
🥉 Thirds (legs and feet): the coarsest and dirtiest grade. Also used for felting, rugs, as well as w**d barriers, bird nesting balls, and insulation.
