Ewens Family Farm, LLC We are a small farm started in 2022 in Lawrence County, KY. Our active products are maple syrup and AKKPS registered Kune Kune hogs.

We are also establishing an heirloom apple orchard but that is still several years away from production. Other products are in the works and will be updated as they become further advanced.

We just moved our sows to their own pens for farrowing. Spitzenberg is very close and Gilliflower looks like she is a couple weeks behind. We plan to AKKPS register these litters, and they would be available in a couple months.

Edit: Found somewhere to Rehome the pups. Thanks.

So we are down on our egg production this Spring... much of it is due to these guys... If anyone knows of a good home for them, please let us know.

German Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix (siblings), Males, born Sept. 2025. Have had all of their puppy shots and have flea and tick meds for a couple months. If we didn't have free range chickens, we would absolutely keep them. They are energetic, lovable, companionable pups who want attention. They stick around the house when we're home and stick near us in the woods on walks. They have been responsive to everything we've worked with them on except chickens. They do not go on killing frenzies with the chickens and will walk around them without issues most of the time. Every once in a while, they decide to kill and eat a single chicken. It started as a month between killings but has become more frequent.

Reckon it's time for a Winter update... We will not be running Maple Syrup this year. We were trying, but we are 2-3 weeks behind and things are only looking busier for a few months. We still are planning on doing it next year. We just need to get our big tubes up in the hills. It's on the list...

We still have some Sorghum Syrup available. Everyone has been really excited about it, but we've had a hard time getting folks to our place or to church to pick it up. If anyone picked some up while we had quantity limits, let me know if you'd like some more. $8.50/pint and $5/half-pint. Thanks.

Found a surprise flush of PoHu Oysters from the leftover inoculated sawdust from this Spring. I almost missed it.

Sorghum Syrup is available now. We have had positive feedback from everyone who has tried it and are ready to put it on the market. We only have four gallons, so we do not have any quarts. It is all in Pints and Half-Pints. Our goal is to give as many people as possible a chance to partake this year so we will start with a one jar per family limit. We are looking for space to do this on a larger scale next year. We can arrange pickup at the farm or at Blaine Church of God Sunday morning or Wednesday nights.
Pint $8.50
Half-Pint $5.00

We had a great time making Sorghum. We enjoyed the process and all of the visitors and help we received. Thank you to Daniel Castle for all of the help and fellowship during our test year as well as taking a lot more pictures than I did. We liked the syrup we brought off, but we still have some more work and quality control to do. This is our first year doing this, so we want to make sure we start off on the right foot.

We are hoping to find a few acres of good, tillable land to lease in the Martha, Blaine, or Flatgap area then we want to start doing this on a larger scale.

For our visitors and helpers, thank you very much.

Saturday's sorghum will start around 9 in the morning. We aren't getting as much from the cane patch as hoped for, but we are enjoying the process and are interested in doing it on a larger scale.

We're getting closer... Just put in the arch for the sorghum. We're just using my 2x4 maple pan to test things out this year.
