On behalf of Keepin It Krabby and Loderique Gordon, I want to address the recent uproar on social media concerning the situation that arose on New Year’s Eve, when refunds could not be processed immediately. It’s important to clarify that the funds were allocated to products and essential business expenses, which meant that there were no available resources to issue refunds at that time.
Unfortunately, I have faced threats due to these circumstances, prompting me to withdraw from social media entirely. There is a significant difference between having available funds but withholding refunds and simply lacking the funds to provide them when needed. Any statement I could have made on social media would likely have been disregarded.
Throughout the year, I have consistently served customers without incident, including on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. It is curious that when an error occurred on the final day of the year, false accusations began to spread rapidly. Where were these concerns throughout the rest of the year? I am not misappropriating funds for personal gain; I have worked diligently to keep this business afloat because of my genuine passion for it. However, the joy I once found in this venture is beginning to diminish.
Two years ago, a similar situation occurred with my food truck, where we took orders and our generator failed. While refunds were issued when possible, social media backlash ensued, overshadowing the quality of our seafood and exemplary customer service, leading to unfounded claims that I am a scammer. I would never willingly deceive anyone; I understand the effort that goes into earning money, as I come from humble beginnings.
I did everything possible to mitigate the situation on New Year’s Eve, but I accept full responsibility for what transpired. I am not seeking sympathy; the business is closing for good, and I am committed to ensuring that everyone affected in the last days of the year receives a full refund. Although I have contributed positively through this business, sometimes negative circumstances overshadow the good.
I have served thousands of customers over the years, and it’s crucial to recognize that small businesses face significant struggles in continuing to serve those who appreciate their products. I have invested immense effort into this venture, and it pains me to be perceived as someone who misappropriates funds due to a minor situation that could have been avoided. With monthly expenses such as $8,000 in rent, taxes, food costs, and employee wages, the financial burden can be overwhelming. I have fought to keep the business afloat.
At times, to survive, I had to utilize payment systems beyond my control, which was the only way I could serve meals to customers. I understand that I am currently a topic of discussion for all the wrong reasons, and while I initially hesitated to clarify the situation, I feel compelled to address the narratives being circulated.
The actions of another local business in posting about this situation reveal their true character, and I won’t dwell on their motives. I hope their new crab egg rolls bring them some success.
I want to reiterate that I personally will ensure that everyone receives their funds back. While some may choose to dismiss my explanation, I felt it was necessary to share my side, especially given the severity of the accusations against me.
I would be remiss if I did not express my gratitude to those who have supported me since I was 19. This career path is incredibly challenging, and I am proud of what I have accomplished and overcome. I acknowledge my mistakes, as all humans do while growing and learning.
This message is not meant to evoke pity; rather, I owe this explanation to those who have supported the business over the years. I am committed to rectifying this situation and moving forward with my life. Thank you.
