We have ALOT of activity happening on this nice sunny day. All our pretty white snow is now speckled with yellow. First bathroom break in months for the bees. It’s also time for some Spring Cleaning so all the dead must go. It’s not unusual to find piles of discarded bees right outside the hive. This is a good sign that all is well inside.

The Bees are nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of Candy Boards danced in their heads….. ❄️
We are ready for Winter. They all got their winter blankets today and Santa will bring them Sugar Boards for Christmas. 🎅 🌲

More friends have joined us. This is reallllly late to swarm. We will do all we can to help them survive. Our plan for now is to see how they progress on their own with donor honey, babies and feed. Reevaluate in a month. Hoping our Queen is healthy and ready to resume production asap.

Update: A new Queen has been crowned. Can you find Her Majesty? All 4 Queen cells hatched and their remnants gone. If you can find her, she is the one who fought and claimed the hive. She’s a beaut, Clark.

Nothing like a late night rescue in the Ville. The “Mashed Potato” Hive is on its way home. Not the best choice to swarm this late in the year but we will help them catch up before winter comes. We will let them settle overnight then move them into their permanent house tomorrow with some donor frames of honey and babies to get our queen laying again. I saw her enter the box so I know she’s here with us. Her debut will be tomorrow too.
