Wow folks… it’s already Thanksgiving.
Hard to believe how fast this year has moved.
2025 has been a busy and emotional one on Yarber Farms — long days, unexpected setbacks, and big moments that reminded us what truly matters. As I reflect back, there are a few things I’m especially grateful for.
On March 14th, a tornado carved a path from Mascoutah up to Trenton, IL. Our farm suffered significant damage — several of our large sheds were destroyed and others sustained heavy impact. The morning after was heartbreaking, seeing pieces of a place we love scattered and broken.
But even in that moment, gratitude quickly took over. I found myself thanking God knowing the storm missed my parents’ home by just half a mile, and even more thankful that there were no fatalities. Structures can be rebuilt — people can’t. That night, in Southern Illinois, we were watched over.
We also faced another scar this year when my dad’s PSA levels began rising again. Cancer has a way of testing your strength and your faith.
I’m incredibly thankful to share that he has just completed his final round of treatment at Siteman Cancer Center, and yesterday… he got to ring the bell! A moment we won’t soon forget.
And lastly — I’m thankful for my wife. The heart of our home, the steady hand through every storm, worry, and long harvest day. She carried our family with grace, protected our peace when times were loud, and showed up relentlessly when life pushed back. I truly don’t know how we’d get by without her.
Farming teaches resilience.
Storms teach humility.
Family gives purpose.
And gratitude helps us see God’s goodness through it all.
