It is AI day! After considering phenotype and spending many evenings evaluating data, the matings are decided. Our hope is we have paired cattle that complement each other and make the next calf crop even better. Stay tuned next spring to see if we accomplished the goal! 🏆

A lot can happen in three days. 🤍

That phrase continues to run through our minds as we anticipate the celebration of our Risen Savior tomorrow. It wasn’t until this year that the idea of a thorny cactus blooming made a parallel to this very story. Only in God’s creation could such a thorny, ugly plant produce such beauty.

And just like that, breeding season is upon us again!

We began our AI protocol on the cow herd today and are finalizing mating decisions. For us, one of the greatest joys of this is pairing the best cattle together to improve the next generation in fertility, longevity and carcass traits.

Herd health is important to us.

We recently brought spring-born bring calves through the chute for branding shots. By administering these vaccinations, we are ensuring a healthy, low-stress transition from their mothers to living on their own in the next few months. As good stewards of the livestock, we want to do our best to give them every opportunity to thrive and avoid illness.
