In the past I’ve tried fresh and frozen Cactus Fruit in soap and the heat turns it brown.

As I’ve been studying natural yarn dyeing, I’ve seen videos of successful vibrant coloring in a cold water dye bath using dehydrated cactus fruit.

I dehydrated some and kept the soap temps as low as I could but it wasn’t low enough.

1- Freshly poured, a little color and the bits were pink
2 - About an hour later
3 - 24 hours after first pic 😞

deep in my heart, I knew there was very little chance that there would be a beautiful vibrant color, but I wanted to give it a try

If anyone has been successful to getting that beautiful, vibrant pink to show up and soap, I would love to know how you did it!

And, these four bars of soap that are scented with a blackberry fragrance and will be mildly exfoliating from the cactus fruit seeds, are available for purchase!

There’s much satisfaction in starting Monday on time.

Waking up with the alarm (or maybe even a few minutes before it), getting dressed, having coffee and being out to milk when I planned to be.

Nothing extraordinary. Just the little things, done when I intended to do them.

It feels good keeping my word to myself!About making a plan and following through, even when nobody else is keeping track.

I feel a little more successful when my Monday starts this way. Like I’ve given myself a good start, and the rest of the week has something solid to build on.

Sometimes, success looks a lot like a quiet morning on the farm, keeping the plans that my Sunday self made!

Well, y’all. I have officially invented a new sourdough starter flavor: CHARCOAL. 😂😂

Apparently, I put a loaf of bread in the oven last night at 350° and forgot all about it.

ALL. NIGHT. LONG.

That loaf has been baking so long it’s probably legally considered a mineral now. 🤦‍♀️🤣

It’s blacker than the inside of a chimney and harder than my determination to keep baking homemade bread.

And somehow, the house doesn’t even smell burnt. It just smelled a little like something was baking when I woke up.

On the bright side, I’ve successfully made a loaf that could double as a doorstop, a paving stone, or a defensive weapon.

Anybody need a sourdough paperweight? I know a woman. 😂🍞🔥

Do you have your simmer pot going?

It’s so cool and damp here today and my old farmhouse start smelling a little stale, so the simmer pot add so much goodness to the air without me having to start baking!

Give it a try! Just use whatever you have on hand. Adding in some dried or fresh herbs, even if that’s all you have will change the way your whole house smells.

How do you ensure that you have time to relax?

Even though I don’t have kids at home, it’s still so difficult to find the time to escape for an hour.

I have to plan for it and keep my word to myself because my brain enjoys thinking of everything I forgot all day! 😂
