Our girl Mowgli is a Geoffroy’s Cat
🐾 Saving South America’s Small Wild Cats—One Project at a Time 🐾
The Feline Conservation Foundation is proud to support the Geoffroy’s Cat Project, an international conservation initiative dedicated to protecting one of South America’s most remarkable yet understudied wild cats.
Through our partnership with Projeto Felinos do Pampa we help advance critical field research, population monitoring, habitat conservation, and community engagement efforts across the grasslands and wetlands of South America. These projects provide valuable data that help conservationists better understand Geoffroy’s cats and the challenges they face, including habitat fragmentation, road mortality, and human-wildlife conflict.
But the impact doesn’t stop with Geoffroy’s cats. Conservation efforts in these ecosystems also benefit other native small felines, including the Southern Tiger Cat, Pampas Cat, Jaguarundi, Ocelot, and Margay—species that share habitats and face many of the same conservation challenges.
For more than six years, FCF has proudly provided financial support to this important work while also helping maintain a sustainable assurance population through responsible management and breeding of Geoffroy’s cats in professionally managed zoological facilities.
Together, we are helping ensure that these incredible wild cats continue to thrive for future generations.
