Hal Williams was a familiar face on American television across multiple generations, with an impressive career spanning more than 55 years. His warm personality, natural charisma, and dependable performances made him a favorite among audiences. Whether in a starring role or a memorable guest appearance, Williams brought authenticity and charm to every production. He is perhaps best remembered for his roles as Officer "Smitty" Smith on Sanford and Son, Sargent Ted Ross on Private Benjamin, Lester Jenkins on 227, and Rudy Bryan on The Sinbad Show.

Throughout his remarkable career, Williams appeared in dozens of notable television series and films, including The Waltons, Good Times, Roots: The Next Generations, Hardcore, Private Benjamin, Sanford, On the Rocks, Knots Landing, Magnum, P.I., Hill Street Blues, The Jeffersons, Night Court, The Rookie, The Cherokee Kid, Guess Who, Flight, Parks and Recreation, The Mayor, Matlock, and many more.

Hal Williams' career is a reminder that some of television's most beloved performers were never the biggest stars. Still, they became unforgettable through consistency, professionalism, and the ability to make every role feel genuine. We thank him for more than five decades of outstanding entertainment and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fans. Rest in peace.
