There’s always 𝗢𝗡𝗘… or in our case, 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗥. 🤪

The first to notice the fence is down.
The first to investigate.
And the first to decide the grass 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 be greener on the other side.

Never mind the acres of perfectly good pasture they already have… apparently the 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁! 🙃

𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝘂𝘀!!

Embryo transfer isn’t new around here — we’ve been doing it within our own herd for 𝟭𝟬+ 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀.

But this year, we took something we’ve been doing for ourselves and expanded it a little further…

For the first time, 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝘆𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀!

Our recipient cows are carrying embryos for other cattle operations, and the first group of babies will be making their appearance soon. 🥹

It’s pretty exciting to see another side of our farm continue to grow — and even more exciting to be trusted with someone else’s future genetics.

✨ 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝘂𝘀!

We've recently started implementing 𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 with our herd—and today is moving day!

Instead of having access to the entire pasture at once, the cattle are moved between sections every 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀, giving previously grazed areas time to rest and regrow. 🌱

It's another step we're taking to better 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 and continue improving the way we 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲.

Judging by how quickly they figure out there's fresh grass on the other side of that fence... we don't think they're complaining. 🙃

As if moving day wasn’t exciting enough, peep the new (and first) baby that arrived!! 🖤

Leading off our female division is an elite donor prospect. 4109 has double digit calving ease, top 10% growth, negative PAP and elite carcass with just under 440$C. We are excited to partner up on this female and explore the possibilities this Friday, Feb 13th in Chetek, WI.
