💧 Thirsty Thursday: Service Call or Free Estimate?
What is the difference?
🔍 A service call identifies the problem.
💵 A free estimate prices a known project or solution.
If your water heater is not working, we first need to determine what failed. It could be a heating element, thermostat, gas control valve, electrical connection, or another component—or the water heater may need replacement. Diagnosing the problem requires a service call.
If you already know you want a new water heater installed, we can evaluate the installation and provide a replacement estimate.
Other problems requiring diagnosis may include:
💧 Low water pressure
🚽 A toilet that keeps running
🚿 A shower that is not getting hot
🌀 A drain that repeatedly backs up
🏠 Water appearing below an upstairs room
Where water appears is not always where the failure began. Water can travel along pipes, framing, and other surfaces before becoming visible somewhere else.
Even a new water softener estimate requires information. Does the home already have a soft-water loop? Are the necessary drain and electrical connections available, or will new plumbing need to be brought in from outside?
When someone requests a firm price over the phone without a proper diagnosis or an on-site inspection, the price must often be based on worst-case assumptions. With so many details unknown, that price may be higher than what an in-person evaluation shows is actually necessary.
A free estimate is generally appropriate for a planned project with a defined scope.
A service-call fee covers the technician’s time, travel, training, tools, and expertise needed to inspect, test, diagnose, and locate the source of an unknown problem.
Before we can accurately price the repair, we have to know what we are repairing.
Plumbing done right. Protecting what matters most.
