Silo vs. Grain Bin: What's the difference?

They might look similar from the road, but they serve very different jobs.

Silos:
- Tall, narrow, and built for silage
- That means the entire corn plant is chopped, packed, and fermented
- It turns into a nutrient-packed feed (like a cow casserole)
- Commonly used for dairy cows

Grain Bins:
- Shorter and wider
- Used to store dry grains like corn, beans, oats, and wheat
- No fermenting - just storage
