Welcome to Love Aquaponics Farm page. We are a family owned and operated aquaponics farm located in Maysville, GA, USA. We specialize in all varieties of lettuces, greens mix, herbs, and tomatoes. We sell to local area markets, restaurants, and caterers. We harvest in the morning and deliver to you the same day for the freshest and most delicious produce available anywhere. We can grow t
o fill your hard to find produce needs as well as create your own specialized, signature mix of lettuce/ and or greens mix. All of our produce is grown in greenhouses in self-contained, recirculating aquaponics system. Aquaponics is the method of growing that combines aquaculture, which is the process of raising fish, with hydroponics, which is growing plants in a water based bed and adding nutrients to the system. Combining these two farming methods creates aquaponics. An aquaponics farming system begins with a fish tank with any fish suited to your particular climate, (we use koi fish because we love the beautiful and varied colors they produce and they are fun to watch) and the right amount of pounds of fish to support the operation of your size grow beds. The water from the fish tank flows to the first grow bed in your system, which is usually a 4' wide by 12" deep wooden bed of whatever length you choose filled completely with water. If you have additional grow beds, the water flows out of grow bed #1 by gravity flow into grow bed #2. The water flows out of the opposite end of this bed and either gravity flows into another grow bed and so on for as many grow beds as you choose to have, or it is pumped out of the end of your last grow bed back into the fish tank fresh and pure for the fish. The cycle continues 24/7 in a neverending circuit. The fish water and waste provide the perfect combination of nutrients for the plants in the grow beds. The plants take the ammonia from the waste (or natural fertilizer you can call it) and turn the nitrites produced by the ammonia created by the fish waste into nitrates which feed the plants, clean the water, and return the water to the fish tank, and the cycle continues. One of the many amazing thing about aquaponics is that by its' nature of including live fish in the system, it is inherently an organic system producing 100% organic produce. Absolutely no chemicals or pesticides can be used in the system or in the greenhouse because it will kill the fish and eliminate any harvest. Very little water is used once the fish tank and grow beds are filled because the water is recycled through the system. (Please see our photo slides of "What is Aquaponics" to learn more of the many positive benefits aquaponics farming provides.) Finally, aquaponics produce grows much faster than any other type of farming usually twice as fast as it can be grown in the ground, and the taste of aquaponics produce is second to none with amazing flavor and freshness, and in most cases it has an increased shelf life over conventionally grown produce.
