Happy Sunday from the farm stand!

We are still open with a few items left at the stand today. We just restocked our blueberry vanilla jam, this one keeps selling out fast. We will likely have one more batch next week before it is done for the season, so grab it while you can.

A few bouquets are still available. All of our baked goods have sold out for the day, but we do have pancake and waffle mix in stock. We also just restocked cucumbers, three for a dollar or two dollars a quart, perfect timing since we also have pickling seasoning in stock, which comes with our favorite sun pickle recipe. We still have plenty of mashed potato squash left too.

We restocked bouquets today and these might be our fullest, most beautiful vases yet this year. The flowers are really starting to come into their own out there.

We also restocked some customer favorites: our homemade blueberry vanilla jam made with blueberries sourced right here in Tuscola County, and this week’s baked goods, oatmeal cream pies (back by popular demand from last year) and frosted sprinkle brownies.

We still have plenty of mashed potato squash. If you have never tried it, bake it and mash the meat with some sour cream, butter, salt and pepper for a mashed potato substitute. It works great for a low carb swap or just as a squash on its own if you love squash. We also have a few cucumbers left. We will be harvesting the garden this weekend so expect another produce restock soon.

A quick note for anyone who has visited this year and noticed our flowers looking different than last year. We scaled back our growing this season, and it ended up working against us. A lot of our specialty varieties, the ones you will not find at a nursery or even at most florists, have really struggled with the heat, drought, and the pest and disease pressure that came with it. Flowers have been limited because of it. The start of the season is always a little unpredictable, but it gets better as we go, and this week is proof of that. We are doing our very best out there and we appreciate you sticking with us through it.

Sorry, right now all my plans are soaking up every last bit of the harvest.

It’s August and we’re holding onto the last bit of summer as fall starts to peek through. Had a thunderstorm this morning, air thick and warm, just enough of a break in the rain to get outside and pick blueberries.

I love the feeling when summer starts to break away into fall, and what better time to light my favorite candle, Fall Harvest from Antique Candle Co. It still feels like summer, but that fall warmth is creeping in too.

Last night I got the sweetest delivery at the farm stand. Patty, from Knotalotta Acres a fellow local farm stand owner from just down the road, showed up with a doll she crocheted about a year ago. She said it had been sitting in her craft room ever since, and every time she looked at it, it reminded her of a flower farmer who also raises chickens. She knew exactly who that was.

She was right. This little doll comes with her own basket, a teapot, a chicken and the cutest little hat, dressed in overalls over a butter yellow top, my favorite color to wear right now. I felt like i was looking at myself! It was the sweetest gift!

If you are local to Michigan, go give her follow and stop by her stand when you get the chance. Support like this is what makes this life so good.

A little update from the farm stand

I love our Flower Fridays. I love this stand and everything it's meant to our little community. But this year has asked us to pivot, and I want to be honest with you about why.

We didn't grow as many flowers this season, and the ones we did plant have really struggled with the heat, pests, and disease. It's gotten to the point where we've had to cancel most of our events, and that has genuinely broken my heart.

On top of that, restocking every single Friday worked beautifully for us last year, but this season of life looks very different, and I've found myself struggling to keep up with that weekly deadline.

So here's what we're doing instead. What started as a flower stand has really grown into a farm stand this year. It'll be open all week long, stop by whenever works for you.

Here's what you can expect: Open 7 days a week!

Flowers: Quantities will be limited and less predictable than in years past. We will post each week when we have them.

Produce: We are stocked whenever we harvest. Right now that means cucumbers, big ones, little ones, everything in between, perfect for pickling or eating fresh. If you need a bulk order of cucumbers, just message the page and we’ll get it ready for you!

Eggs: Restocked every few days in the refrigerator. If the fridge is empty, we're sold out until the next batch.

Pantry staples: Things like pancake mix, pizza crust mix, jam, dirty soda kits, and more will be restocked as time allows.

Little gifts: Boo boo bags, crocheted bandanas, potholders, simmer pots, bath salts, sugar scrubs, and more as we have time to make them.

I'm hoping all of this takes the pressure off that Friday rush. Restocking a little bit at a time throughout the week means you won't have to race out the door on a Friday worried we'll be sold out. Come whenever works for you, and I'll keep you posted here on what's fresh and available.

I'll update the page daily with what's currently at the stand, so give us a follow and check back often. If you want to know what we have before you drive out, just send us a message and I'm happy to tell you.

It's Flower Friday and the stand is stocked and open.

We have wrapped bouquets ready to go, plus Kraft vase bouquets (located in the flower pots so they don’t tip over). We also have new this week reusable jute farmers market bags and our dirty sodas are back again this week.

A few gift items are still hanging around too, boo boo bags, crocheted pie potholders, head bandanas, simmer pots and bath salts.

Our produce pick of the week is mashed potato squash. If you have never tried it, it is a wonderful lower carb substitute for potatoes. Bake it, mash it up with butter, sour cream and cheese, then top with chives or green onions for a really good mashed potato replacement. You can also dice it up and fry it just like you would zucchini or any other squash.

We also have more cucumbers this week.

A note on this week, we are taking orders for kale, green onions and larger batches of cucumbers. We do not have those on hand at the stand this morning, but if you message the page ahead of time we can have them ready for you.

Unfortunately we do not have blueberry jam this week. It was a busy one on the farm and we just did not have time to make jam or baked goods. We appreciate your understanding and hope to have it back soon.
