💔 Today, we say goodbye to "Sanford and Son" star Hal Williams at 91.

Best remembered by millions as Officer Smith on Sanford and Son and later as Lester Jenkins on 227, Hal Williams passed away on July 15, 2026, at the age of 91.

For generations of television fans, he was one of those familiar faces who always made a scene better. Whether he was bringing laughs, warmth, or quiet wisdom, he became part of the memories so many of us still cherish today.

His career spanned decades, with memorable appearances in countless television shows and films, but to many, he’ll always be Officer Smith—a character who helped make classic television unforgettable.

Rest in peace, Hal Williams.

Thank you for the laughter, the memories, and the legacy you’ll always leave behind. ❤️
