๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŽƒ Quick Pumpkin Patch Scouting Report ๐ŸŽƒ๐ŸŒฑ

๐Ÿšœ While we're busy chopping our final cutting of hay here at Dick Family Farm, we couldn't resist checking in on the pumpkin patch!

๐ŸŒผ The blossoms are putting on a show.
๐Ÿ Our hardworking pollinators are buzzing from flower to flower.
๐ŸŽƒ And the best part... tiny pumpkins are officially starting to appear!

It's always exciting to see the first signs of this year's pumpkin crop. Fall is still a little ways off, but it's definitely on its way! ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿงก

It's been a hot, dry week here at the farm, and yesterday the haze settled in. The smoky skies are a reminder of just how connected we all are.

We're praying for reliefโ€”for cooler temperatures, rain, and clearer skies. Most of all, we're praying for everyone affected by the Canadian wildfires, especially the families, first responders, farmers, and the countless wild and farm animals in harm's way.

If you're spending time outdoors, please take care, stay hydrated, and be mindful of the air quality.

Praying for brighter skies and safer days ahead. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿšœ Pop quiz... What sound does a chopper make? ๐Ÿค”

We asked the experts... and by experts, we mean kids. ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐ŸŽค Their answers:
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "NOISE NOISE, CLINK CLANK!"
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "HUMMMM"
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "BRRRRRR!"
(You'll have to watch to hear them all!)

Now stick around until the end to hear what a forage chopper actually sounds like! ๐ŸŽง

We recently finished chopping our second cutting hay and dry cow hay. Every load helps fill our bunkers with feed that will nourish our cows throughout the year. ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ„

So... whose sound effect was the closest? ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŒฝ Happy 4th of July from all of us at Dick Family Farm!

They say corn should be knee-high by the Fourth of Julyโ€”and around here, that means it's time for our annual corn photo! ๐ŸŒฝโค๏ธ

This year's photos feature three of our older farm kids and our youngest little farmer. While the older kids were happy to pose, our youngest had other plans... he was much more interested in playing in the dirt than smiling for the camera. That's real farm life, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

These annual corn pictures have become one of our favorite traditions, capturing not only how the corn grows each year, but how our family grows right alongside it.

We're grateful for the freedom to farm, for the families who support local agriculture, and for the opportunity to make memories together on the farm.

From our family to yours, we wish you a safe, fun, and happy Independence Day! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

One of our favorite signs that planting season is officially wrapped up is when the planter gets parked for the year. ๐Ÿšœ

Here on our dairy farm, spring is for planting corn, and June is for planting our 4-acre pumpkin patch.

This year, we planted 58 different pumpkin varieties, each one adding something unique to the patch.

We plant in June so everything is ready for you by mid-Septemberโ€ฆ and then the waiting begins. ๐ŸŽƒ

The seeds are in the ground, and the countdown to pumpkin season has officially started.

Weโ€™ll see you this fall! ๐Ÿ‚

Our corn maze got a technology upgrade this year! ๐ŸŒฝ

In the past, we planted the entire field and then cut the maze pathways later in the season.

This year, we used GPS-guided planting and a planting prescription to create the maze design while planting. The planter automatically turned rows on and off to leave the future pathways unplanted.

Now that the corn has emerged, we're excited to see that the plan worked and the maze is already beginning to take shape.

Any guesses what this year's design might be? ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿ„๐Ÿฅ› June is Dairy Month, and we're excited to share a closer look at what happens here on our family dairy farm!

This virtual farm tour offers a snapshot of our farm and the process behind producing milkโ€”from caring for our cows and managing our land to the moment the milk leaves the farm.

Being good stewards of our cattle, our land, and our community is at the heart of everything we do. Every day, we work to provide a safe, high-quality, and nutritious product while caring for the resources entrusted to us.

We're proud to be part of an industry that helps nourish families and communities, and we're grateful for the opportunity to share a little of our story with you.

Take a look behind the scenes and let us know in the commentsโ€”what's your favorite dairy product? ๐Ÿง€๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฅ›
