Orange yolks used to be a sign that your chickens were raised on grassy pastures filled with bugs.

Now, the Grocery Industrial Complex has figured out a way to mimic that color with SCIENCE.

Some folks are shocked that our yolks aren't orange 🍊. But to be completely honest, there just isn't that many grass hoppers, crickets and earthworms in the sand soils of coastal South Carolina.

Also, feeding your chickens corn can add a lot of depth to the color of the yolks. Since we are corn free and soy free, were fighting an uphill battle in the egg fashion game.

Why we are not an farm.

#1. They own the word and I think that's dumb
#2. They take a percentage of your sales and I think that's dumb
#3. Factory chickens can be certified organic with the proper loopholes in place and I think that's dumb
#4. The amount of paperwork required for small farmers to be "O" is so insane that it almost takes another full time employee just for the paperwork. THATS DUMB.
5. I hate dealing with anything within the government and their bureaucrats. They're dumb!

We are always changing and adapting to find what works best.

This year has been one of our best years yet at the Mount Pleasant Market.

The more you talk about it, the more the Virginia Raw Milk legality status just seems so ridiculous.

Is it really about "safety?" Or is someone getting paid to keep real nutrition out of the hands of the people.

You can go buy a carton of cigs but you cant buy a gallon of milk?

You can buy a grocery cart full of whiskey, but you cant buy a gallon of raw milk?

You can spray round-up on the playgrounds, but you cant buy a gallon of raw milk in Virginia?

The math ain't mathin...

Wake up Virginia! Try to be a little more like South Carolina if possible :)

This one is for my farming friends.

You cannot skip a farmers market because you don't feel like going. You can't skip it because it's raining. You cant skip it because it's hot or it's snowing.

You can't close your farm store even when you know you're going to have a slow day.

Your most faithful customers will still show up that day. They are expecting you to be there. Don't let them down!

Don't give them a reason not to shop with you anymore...
