We offer boarding services, riding lessons, and events on our 600 acre farm just 20 minutes north of downtown Chattanooga. We are dedicated to growing a community of riders that value safety; responsibility; solid riding skills; natural, leadership-based human-horse interaction; and the beauty, freedom, and fun of both horses and the outdoors. We also enjoy natural living and sustainable farming as a way of life, and produce our own weed-free fescue/mixed grass hay; sell summer produce from our vegetable gardens; and sell fresh eggs from our free range hens.

Puff balls are everywhere on the farm this week. For those coming to play day tomorrow, you will see them from the hayride, around the barn and on the walking trail between the horse Arena and cow milking. Guests will be welcome to pick as many as they want. If you’re not sure why someone would want to pick a puffball mushroom….they are delicious when fried in butter, but what isn’t delicious fried in butter. If you do choose to take some home with you, make sure you are familiar with proper identification and preparation as with all wild mushrooms. See you tomorrow.

The rookie mistakes our amazing lesson horses endure! I asked a beginner to please put Jewel’s halter on, and this is what we got! Jewel’s expression just kills me!

Luckily, staff will be haltering the horses for Play Day today!

General made sure he was stylin’ for Play Day today and wore his favorite belt.

Oh no. That’s not a belt! That’s all that’s left of his sun sheet!!

Wear your favorite belt to Play Day today from 10:30-12:30—or not! But do make sure you haven’t lost the rest of your clothes!

We are excited about these two new opportunities for homeschoolers at the farm!

1. Horsemanship and Equine Education Class: This 6 week beginner horsemanship course is designed for homeschoolers ages 9 and up to learn important foundational horsemanship skills. Topics may include leading, tacking and untacking, tack identification, reading horses' body language, horse anatomy, cost of horse ownership, and a confident, balanced riding position. Participants can expect some classwork as well as hands-on horse work.

This class will meet on Mondays from 9:30-12:30. There are two opportunities for this class: September 7 - October 12 or October 19 - November 23.

2. SGI Farm & Ag Class: We enjoyed hosting this agriculture class back at the other farm, and we are excited that Siobhan Miller and friends are returning to offer the class again! See the details on the flyer!
