Grow your own Hybrid Heartnut trees from seeds. Use like English walnuts, but Heartnuts walnut trees have less pest problems and are cold hardier. The trees have an almost tropical look with large leaves and make a great shade tree.

It is getting to be the middle of hazelnut harvest season. There is definitely a correlation between nut size and ripening date.

We are learning to really appreciate aronia berries. Zero maintenance so far after 3 years with a gallon of berries per bush harvested this year. We are always learning what can be co-cultivated with nut trees for an understory.
