Evening all! It’s been a busy weekend for me, I am treating all of my hives with Apiguard, I typically do 3 rounds for every hive, I run singles so I dose at 30 per hive three times, takes me all month of August to finish treating them. Apiguard shuts the queens down a bit, however once the treatment is complete, they catch up and I end up with a solid nest and overwintering colony.

Been out pulling honey the last couple of days, just beat the rain today. Next weekend I will be assessing queens and treating for mites. New hives that are building up I will likely treat all month with OA, established hives I plan to treat with either apravar
strips or Aprigard gel. I hope everyone had a good season and harvest, depending on your area I think there may be a decent fall flow. With all the summer rain we have gotten. Have a Great Relaxing Weekend!!!

Out this weekend checking yards, mowing, and seeing if my flows are done. Currently there seems to be a decent flow in Jackson county and estill county, my yards there are still bringing in a good amount of nectar, my Madison county yards are still bringing it in as well. Madison county should be about done imo.

From floods to heat wave, gotta love it. If you haven’t yet and your flow is done, it’s time to harvest that honey, I won’t be harvesting until last weekend of July there abouts, then I plan on treating for mites first weekend of August.

Been a busy season, if you haven’t yet, it’s time to start thinking about harvesting honey. And planning to treat for mites, I plan to start mite washes in about 2 weeks to get an ideal of numbers. I generally start treating the last weekend of July, depending on mite numbers. I haven’t decided on what I want to treat with this year, I do know I am gonna put OA strips on the hives next weekend, OA strips help keep mite numbers from increasing.

Been a busy month, between yard inspections and splits time is just flying away. I hope everyone is having a good nectar flow. All this rain we have been getting has slowed it down to nothing for me. It’s almost time to start planning the harvest and mite treatments.
