Been a busy season, if you haven’t yet, it’s time to start thinking about harvesting honey. And planning to treat for mites, I plan to start mite washes in about 2 weeks to get an ideal of numbers. I generally start treating the last weekend of July, depending on mite numbers. I haven’t decided on what I want to treat with this year, I do know I am gonna put OA strips on the hives next weekend, OA strips help keep mite numbers from increasing.

Been a busy month, between yard inspections and splits time is just flying away. I hope everyone is having a good nectar flow. All this rain we have been getting has slowed it down to nothing for me. It’s almost time to start planning the harvest and mite treatments.

Hope everyone is doing well this spring, I am currently still making splits, and doing inspections, looks like we have a pretty good nectar flow happening. I have been pondering changing my business name due to there now being to many names with bluegrass in them related to bees. Would like to stand out a bit more. What do yall think?

Been busy this weekend, thanks everyone that came out and picked up bees, I enjoyed meeting everyone and all the questions and conversations. The nectar flow is looking good so far. Make sure to inspect every 7 to 10 days and keep and eye on the bees ensuring they have room and aren’t trying to hit the trees on ya.

Keep those suppers on and watch them close add more as needed, else bees will backfill brood box and hit the trees. Yes we are in full blown swarm season.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, the rain we got yesterday should cause the nectar flow to increase, locust is blooming for me. Been keeping busy with nucs backfilling with honey. If I haven’t contacted you to pick your nuc up, you are welcome to stop by today 4/19 and grab your bees. I have a few beekeepers already coming today to pickup.
